A little bit of overkill never hurt anybody.......much

My younger brother, bless him, bought me a couple of Airfix kits from the Hornby shop in Margate recently as he lives in the area. One was the ancient F4U Corsair in FAA markings. Guess what? In a factory sealed box was a complete kit with the exception of the port fuselage half, which was very conspicuous by its absence!

A phone call to Hornby's spares department soon (about 72 hours) produced a box big enough to hold about twenty four Humbrol tinlets, but which instead contained a rollled up square of bubble wrap which, when unrollled, covered an area of four square feet. In the middle of this was my new fuselage half:) Smeone in Margate wanted to make damn' sure that that part didn't get damaged in transit.

Airfix always had good customer service: when they were at Marfleet there was a wonderful lady called Rita Anstee who dealt with this aspect of the business and she was legendary for the quality of service provided: Her spirit seems to have imbued the currrent team wjo have dealt with even my self-inflicted losses quickly and professionally (I had to confess that I'd written off the transparencies sprue for a Brewster Buffalo by treading on it, and I stilll had repalcements 42 hours later).

Nice one Airfix and Hornby! Thank you:)

Hello all,

I've just seen a pile of Revell 1/144 Class 214 subs in Modelzone in Birmingham reduced to 5.99 (sorry my keyboard has no pound symbol!). Seems to be a fair reduction compared to the online prices I've just googled.

Seemed rude not to get one at that price. Hope it helps someone.
5 spoke Hurricane wheels in 1/48th

Hi

after a set(s) of these, Aires do some but come with masks, and expenisive, as do Ultracast, which are generally not available in the Uk (and expensive with the collapse of the pound!) or is there a UK Ultracast stockist? (Relish are usually out of stock, all the other listed do armour)

Annoyingly the Classic Airframes Fabric wing Hurricane has the 4 spoke, and the Heritage conversion lack the them.... both of which need them too.

Just wondering if any folks here might have some they got in error, or something....

can pay, or trade, got some old 1/72nd kits, old Airfix, Matchbox, a few Frog... not got around to making up a list yet.

please PM me if you can help
thanks
T

Cutting Edge or Reheat 1/32nd ejection seat buckles

Help

I think that either one or the other of these now defunct companies produced a photo etched fret of buckles and bits to make bang seat harnesses. Does anyone know where I can get hold of one, or something similar?

Personally, I like making belts with paper or lead sheet and I like the MDC p/e Sutton harnesses. In fact I've e-mailed them to suggest that they do something to fill the current vacuum for ejection seats. What has started this off is the recent acquisition of a Trumpeter Lightning, where there is absolutely nothing in the way of a harness.
I know that Eduard do a self adhesive pre-painted jobbie for about £12 for the Trumpeter kit but I have never used a pre-painted belt set and so I wonder how good they look (aren't they a bit 2-dimensional?). I thought you had to heat p/e stuff so that you could make it 'drape' but surely the paint burns off?

Quite simply, if I had a selection of the correct bits and pieces I think I could suss out the harness from either photos or drawings from the Martin Baker site but can you help with the Reheat or Cutting Edge fret?

Many thanks

Simon

Just realised that ReHeat made 1/72nd and 1/48th stuff but not 1/32nd! Any ideas?
