  1. Dry fit of wings and fuselage. Some big gaps , call up the filler. I'm guessing it would be better to sand down the excess thickness on the wing tips and control surfaces, rather than build up the wing panel to match. I think I'll tackle this before final fit, might be easier to handle.
  2. I can repeat comments made in other posts about this kit, but this is a Heller classic build. All things considered, the build is progressing.
  3. Keen to see this build. Been eyeing one of these kits online, but the shipping costs.
  4. I'm going with my second build first. A bit of progress this week.
  5. And we're off, first pieces together. But, wait, rabbit hole ahead! I don't like the seatbelts, they got to go. Aside from buying aftermarket bits, any suggestions on making replacement seatbelts?
  6. For this GB, the only kit in my small stash that would work, is the Revell 1/32 Alouette II. The Lama was developed from the SE 313 Alouette II, so I'll be doing the same with this kit, making changes to the landing struts and engine deck to represent a civilian SA 315B Lama registration C-GAWW circa 2008. This is new turf for me, I usually build OOB. A civilian aircraft model is also a first for me, this GB is a great idea. Box, sprue pic and C-GAWW (link to image from Jetphotos.net) below.
  7. It occurs to me I can build a civilian SA315 Lama, like below pic from Jetphotos.net I have a Revell Alouette II kit in my stash for this. Would this be within the GB rules?
  8. This is my second entry in this GB. Looks like the original tool was 1966 and box numbered L393.
  9. @LorenSharp Thanks for hosting a great GB . It was a brilliant intro to GB's for me.
  10. Yes, marketing photo shoot for Aeroflo. No, civvy, I worked for Aeroflo back then.
  11. Yes, that's me in the harness.
  12. This build will be a Heller box 80289, a new box of the tool dating to 1980. This will be built as SAAF number 639 of 17 Squadron based at Swartkop, a SA316B factory number 2325, an aircraft I have a connection to. I'm a bit apprehensive with this build. The door will have to be cut out and fitted in the open position. The Aeroflo Vortex Filters will be scratch built. Lots of small bits. Got a second box in case I mess up and need donor spares. While we wait for the start, anyone with a wild guess as to the backstory? Chris
  13. I'll give this a go, I'm in.
  14. Count me in please.
  15. I'm pleased to see I have several candidates for this GB, maybe more. @trickyrich In the tank buster category, would modern helicopters configured for the anti tank/armour role be in, I'm thinking of something like the EC635 below? Those are Ingwe ATGM launchers on the port side.
