2020 Blitzbuild Pt 1 Chat

Recommended Posts

I was just given a timely reminder by @Adrian Hills that the first Blitzbuild for 2020 is fast approaching.

This one will run from Saturday 23 May to midnight on Monday 25 May.  It fits nicely around the bank holiday.

Although the GB runs for three days, you don't actually get three days to finish your model.  You get 24 hours!

This can be done in two ways:

1.  The Superhero Option   Complete your model in a single 24 hour time slot

2.  The Other Option      Complete your model in two 12 hour slots, seperated by no more than 12 hours.  Still pretty heroic, if you ask me.    You can start on the Saturday and finish on the Sunday or start on the Sunday and finish on the Monday.

Start a WIP thread with a start photo showing the time, ( a mobile phone/tablet screen/computer screen will suffice), then as many progress pics as you want (but at least six) and finally a finish photo again showing the time.

Bonus kudos points will be given for uniqueness of the clock, the on-plate presentation of the meals to be consumed and other things like great music videos etc. All the while remembering this is a family friendly forum ...

25% Rule: This is a short GB intended to showcase speed building skills with an unstarted kit. Therefore, the 25% rule is suspended for this GB. All kits must be unstarted, although removal of main components from the runners is acceptable.

All the othe usual GB rules apply, the most important being to have fun.  It's The Law!

So...   what will you build?  :bounce:

I think I’ll go for the ‘other option’. Having done a 12 hour build before, I know that by the end I was so full of pizza that I couldn’t get my wings straight! Having a second 12 hours will certainly help!

Have been thinking of my subject from kits from my stash.

Matchbox Seafox or Walrus. Both good kits and build well. But couldn’t do rigging in that time as I find it stressful.

Or

Old kits, Frog 1/79 scale Blenheim mk1 or Kader 1/152 Sunderland !

Choices, choices

For the second 2019 Blitzbuild I built the Tamiya 1/48 Crusader Mk.I

For the Christmas Blitzenbuild I built the Tamiya 1/48 Crusader Mk.III

For this one, there's only one possible choice...   :)

Just done a personally imposed Blitzbuild for ‘Kits you built as a kid’ group build which started yesterday. It took me twelve hours and twenty minutes to start and complete a Matchbox Boeing P12E. I reckon given the full twenty four hours I could do the Matchbox Walrus, waterlined and with rigging !

Noted! Might do another vulcan then.... Might as well have yet another 1/200 Cyberhobby one in my collection. A few other options but I like Vulcans. I won't be starting on the Saturday due to work, but the Sunday should be ok.

Count me in.

Also when are the other blitzbuilds?

Oh really?  I would never have guessed...   :fool:

The other Blitzbuilds run over the August bank holiday and Christmas.

Question is how fast can I build one... Guess I could make one of my tiny 1/1100ish vulcan shaped objects haha

Right, noted. I'll have a think about what else I can build for the other two.

Oh struth I'd forgotten all about these, with 5 kits in separate GBs naturally I will need to be included in this one, now to chose a suitable victim, whoop project....

Hi Enzo

We might need to pop some PM's to the usual suspects to round them up for the GB.

Let me know if you need someone to play bad cop, happy to oblige ! :fight:

 Cheers Pat

I'm gonna tune in for that one Steve. I can't wait to see you trying to get an All Blacks shirt on a Kiwi.

Woohoo, I'll be there with knobs on. No idea what I'll be building, but it will definitely have wheels. Or tracks. Or maybe both. Unless it has a different kind of hull.

Reporting for duty, sah!

I bagged a TOM 1/35 Raketenwerfer 43 from Kits for Cash before it closed down - what can go wrong with something that simple?
