Covid Jab

I also had an invitation letter. It is cheaper to send letters to everyone in the age group than try to comb through GP databases. My appointment was given to me before the official date for my group, but I suspect the letter was on its way. My NHS record will now have the fact that I have been  vaccinated  on 17th February with the Pfizer vaccine, but not all the details of when the appointment was booked.

Well I felt fine all yesterday afternoon and evening, but during the night I had quite a fever and uncontrollable shakes for a while. Felt like I had contracted the flu. Then this morning, all seems to be well although slightly tired from a bad night. They did warn there might be some short term reactions like that. Mine was the Oxford AstraZeneca one.

None of that will put me off the second jab though!

Terry

I got the text on Tuesday and booked my appointment for 9.00am yesterday. All very efficient and I was mega impressed. Felt fine yesterday but got a bit fluey in the evening which has lasted until now and I feel really 💩

But like Terry it ain’t going to put me off the second dose. A couple of days with manflu is infinitely better than a few weeks on a ventilator, or worse.

Well I had my Astrazenica shot an hour ago - no side effects so far - not even an ache in the arm.  Well done NHS - all very efficient & polite.   Steve

Quick update - 12 hours in (02:30am) - I suddenly got the chills & now I'm aching all over - but I guess it's shows my body & the vaccine are at work together :)

Covid jabs have only started from today in Australia ( Sunday 21 February ) and I'm in stage 1b, it is still at least 4-5 weeks away before the vaccination will be offered for me and others.

This. Let the hard of thinking infect each other, and natural selection will take care of the rest.

Indeed but there might be a bigger issue. Their actions might impact the rest of us.

I note a comment this morning from an interview with a certain person on radio :

"there is a real question about whether the rest of the country should be held back for two months because some people choose not to take the vaccine."

I also see that a proportion of workers in care homes have refused the vaccine, which is astonishing. The same with some medical staff.

There cannot be situation where the majority of people are restricted because of the behaviour of an irresponsible few.

I agree completely, sorry for my facetiousness,

By way of context I tore a strip off a kid in the school where I work this morning (we have 100+ key worker/vulnerable kids in) for giving me a load of attitude when I'd asked him for the third time to put his mask on while hanging around outside my office. In the meantime a colleague who was in the same room as me all day yesterday has tested positive. My tolerance for selfish morons is less than zero at the moment.

I've got an appointment for later this week, so I'll let you know if I grow an extra head or lose a few IQ points and dip into single figures. :clown: I figured I'd be in category 6, and I was right.  That seems to be the group they're targeting right now, according to the nice lady I spoke to :)

Had mine yesterday, no immediate issues but started with a tightening around the neck and a funny taste, lasted for few hours

and went as fast as it came on.. Result !!   And no It wasn't Mrs Dads strangling me !

Woke up this morning feeling like absolute dog toffee, head ache, hot and cold and few other niggly

things, just came out to the workshop now and I think I'll head back to the sofa now for a lay down.

It's all normal so i've been told.

My Daughter has been waiting for months for a certain plumber to come and take out or reroute old pipes in the utility/downstairs toilet. (1930's house).

Last week she got a call, he was self isolating, should be there today. New call, He and his family are in intensive care. Close call, I think.

Pfizer for me today over in that thar Grantham.  Very efficient process.  The jabber was very good, literally felt the lightest scratch on the arm.

No arms fallen off, heads exploding or skin growing between the fingers or toes (known as the Norfolk variant).  Even given date and time for

the second jab.

Ox-AZ jab for me on Monday, booked online at 23.00 Sunday, injected at 09.20 Monday, very efficient system, in and out in 10 minutes. Felt like **** for 24 hours, better on Tuesday but have a very "heavy" left arm today. But all better than a dose of the real thing!

I just got a telephone call from my health centre. I'm now booked to get the jag next Wednesday morning.

I wasn't expecting it so soon as I'm really low on the 'priority' lists. But I'm not turning it down.

I just received a text message from my local surgery offering the jab. I’m booked in for 5th March. That’s much sooner than I expected and I’m over the moon. That’ll be one day short of a year that the Mrs and I have been shielding. I was kinda hoping she would get hers first, but I expect she’ll get it soon enough.

Having autoimmune issues, this will hopefully make the world a less dangerous place for me.

Had the Pfizer one Wednesday. Got a bad headache for 24 hours, and mild flu like symptoms.  Glad to have got it done though.

Considering the fact that it's made by the same people that produce Viagra, you've got off lightly.   I hate to think what might have happened. :rofl2::rofl2:

Well my wife will get her first jab on Friday. She was warned to have some paracetamol handy even take some beforehand. Perhaps good advice for those of you next in line.

I should point out she's a works in a hospital lab, actually she's the boss hence the early vaccine. So she was busy today organising her staff for the vaccine. Apparently some of them were 'unsure'. Now most these people are medical professionals, scientists even, indeed they carry out covid tests. But some were 'unsure'.

It's hard to believe but there you are.

I'd take their place but being in my early sixties, I probably won't be vaccinated until September or October if I'm lucky according to the Irish calculator. Me and all the eighteen year olds. Yes I fall into the same priority list. So I have at least another seven months of playing the great Covid lottery.

2021 is shaping up to be almost as much fun as 2020.
