  1. Past hour
  2. Upon starting the turrets I forgot there's resin blast bags included with the Pontos set. So upon realising, the plan was to leave the kit ones there. However after comparing the two, it would have to be corrected. So here's the before & after. Note the heightened gun elevation with the resin blast bags.
  3. Thanks for the encouragement folks! or the contribution to my delinquency? Still picking away on the Duster, Working on the LA 340 engine it's quite a nice representation of the engine although with the exception of missing a fuel pump as well as a kind of crude distributor...picky, picky right? I used a couple of parts left over from the Revell Dodge Charger previously completed with a 440 engine The Revell 426 donor; And cut off/ glued to the 340 engine, wouldn't work in real life but in plastic many things are possible as well, the kit distributor, on the right compared to the Revell 440 part on the left. Granted the vacuum advance is indicating opposite rotation but it's still better and stuck together The bridge on the carbs should be slotted to the secondary carbs (outboard carbs) as it's only there to close the throttles not open them (I actually owned a 440 six pack at one point in my history) but under the air cleaner who'll even know. I've also added a wire harness to the alternator (probably a 37 amp) and red lead for the starter motor Thanks for looking
  4. G'day, referred to as 'sheer' I believe. And you've done a great job of improving it. Re the bridge height, I don't know how effective simply sanding off the base of the bridge to reduce the height would be. I would be easy I think but could alter the relative heights and sizes of other fittings, looking odd. Sometimes I guess it's best to just accept a kit's inaccuracies. I think most of them that survived the early carnage of the war replaced 'X' 4.7-inch mount with a twin 4-inch mount. They weren't actually turrets. Plus their light AA weapons were improved. These were sleek-looking ships and I'm certainly following this. Regards, Jeff.
  5. Today I got some work done that can actually be seen. Still avoiding the bodywork I found a way to back fill the canopy slot. I'm hoping this makes @fubar57 proud. Further procrastination caused me to paint the tail out of order. I think I like the color match. Unfortunately it couldn't stay for two reasons. First was this. I didn't get the APS13 tail warning panel filled in completely. The second reason is the blue below the masked edge will shift the silver top coat. After primer, silver has to be the base color and everything else has to go over it. At least I know what my blue will look like. After stripping the blue I bit the bullet and went back to bodywork. After three or four cycles of filling, snading, washing and checking the bodywork I finally put primer on the wings and underside. I use Mr.Base White 1000 as a primer. I like this stuff it works like their surfacer primers but white. I thin it with Mr.color Leveling Thinner. I call it unicorn tears because it's magical stuff. The white primer and unicorn tears gives a nice smooth finish that shows flaws and sands nicely. The primer revealed a few spots that needed filling and the starboard leading edge had split outboard the guns. This was where I was going to leave off when I decided I needed to make a round hole oval. You'd think it'd be easy to make a round hole oval but I messed that up. I had to open the up the mangled hole to accept a piece of brass tubing I made oval. I glued it in with black CA, sanded it back and filled the the surrounding area with Mr.Dissolved Putty. I'll have to finish sand it tomorrow and prime it and the other repaired areas. I sanded back the rough filled gun ports in preparation for the Masters gun barrels. I think they'll look ok. There's still panel lines to fix and fasteners to add but we should be ready for real painting soon. Be well Ron
  6. Despite protestations to the contrary, the Asian kit makers in general do not care one bit about their customers once the sale has been made. Tamiya is one of the few exceptions. Hasegawa and Fujimi do not care about you unless you’re in Japan. And as far as China goes, if you need anything from Trumpeter or Dragon, forget about it. It’s gotten to the point it’s at least a factor I consider before buying any kit these days.
  7. You need to use the buy sell and trade subforum for this, this thread will likely be closed pretty quickly
  8. Im sure I can find something in my files.

  11. Excellent Mossie Enzo.
  12. Oh @Enzo the Magnificent I believe we hit the #30 mark and crossed the checkered flag.
  13. They all count as Pony cars. Mustang came first and GM cloned the idea with the Camaro & Firebirds. Friend of mines farther had a 65 Nova II with a big block in it. Another friend had a 69 Chevelle with a 396. Isn't that the truth. Favorite Springsteen song. Though I change the words in y head to honor my Brother. He had a 69 with the 440ci six pack, with a hurst transmission, “I had a 69 Charger with a 4-4-0, fuelie heads and a hurst on the floor”. As for the Chevy spec. Maybe not, but the song says he and his buddy built her from scratch.
  14. I might try spraying a dead flat white. Then try dry lightly dry brushing it with a clear gloss coat of some sort. A flat paint has a dimpled surface. Try to ever so lightly just hit the high parts of that finish. With some luck, the lower parts of the finish will remain flat while the high parts will "glisten". Just go very lightly.
  15. True but the definition means something different everywhere on the planet. All fit the bill, SS denoted top tier from Chevy. I’d look into it and see if “Yenko” ever did a 72 Nova ? If they did look into decals as a “Yenko” would stand out.
  16. Welcome Peter. Nice choice.

  26. Hi All! I have three projects stalled due to missing parts. I need the following (all 1/72nd scale): 1-I need the nose radome for a Sea Harrier FRS.1. I started to do a FA.2, then Airfix came out with a FA.2, and I lost the radome I cut off the ESCI kit. 2- I need a 1/72nd scale Harrer GR.1 and AV-8A nose cone for the Heller T,2/4, I am working on. 3- I need a 1/72nd Scale DHC-1 Beaver prop, mine has gone missing All of the parts can be used, or I can purchase abused kits. Please help! Bruce
