Well, that was quite a ride

3 which I supported got through, so that's something

I didn't get the knives out once this year, as bloodletting wouldn't have helped

Somewhow that just seems unnatural

Now I need to see what I have in the stash for the others ............

Thank you for a highly entertaining Bunfight.

Dissapointment at the Track Day GB not making the cut has been replace with a bit of relief after looking at next years lineup. There are so many GBs to take part in right from January onwards. Just about any model I fancy building fits in somewhere or other. There's plenty of space for car builds on more than one substitute GB. I even get to space them out over the year.

It's going to be a busy year by the look of it.

Top jobs done by @Enzo the Magnificent and @trickyrich in keeping us all in line and entertained throughout the process, and also everyone who was daft enough to propose and volunteer to host a GB.

Now, is it a good time to suggest the Civilian Tuk Tuk GB for '25?

Can it include Jeepney’s from the Philippines ?

What a ride! I'm not sure why the despondency about peeps not being into GBs anymore. I think that was their strongest field of entries for many a year. Given that 10 proposals got over @trickyrich projection of the votes required based on previous years, it has to be assumed that some were simply outmuscled which would have made it in an 'average' year.

Personally, I don't use all my votes and yet this year I was wanting 7 to get through and only 5 votes to help them along.

Right, what to do for the next 50 weeks until it starts again?

WW2 twins looks good. I've got an Airfix vintage P61 in the stash, an RS Do17 (a challenge!) and I think I will have to get the new Airfix Me410.

US navy isn't really my cup of tea.

Golden age of transport. Now that could be interesting... do old sailplanes count as transport? If so I'll be building one of those.

1946-64. Easy, Vulcan. Or glider.

Made in Ukraine. Probably something by Mikromir. Maybe a third build of their Victor kit...

South of the Rio Grand. There is decent gliding in South America. Probably a glider.

Asia... Japan has gliders, and some have really creative schemes.

Project cancelled.... not sure. Definitely interesting, so maybe I'll build something.

Or more realistically I'll watch from the sidelines while doing uni work

Which would be ideal for the Airfix Classic GB.

While you lot were busy stabbing each other last night,  I went to see an Elvis impersonator, but I got there too late.....

Apparently, he had just left the building.

Just for you dude,

Een Belg steekt een lucifer aan en blaast hem direct weer uit. “Zo”, denkt hij, “ik houd deze, want deze werkt.”

Why do Stormtroopers listen to Megan Trainor?
Because "They're all about that base, 'bout that base, no rebels."

Many thanks to Enzo and Rich, and to everyone who maintained the quality of the jokes at the expected level (read into that what you will!).

We've ended up with a great selection of group builds but won't help me narrow down what I want to build very much - I've got something for every GB and half the STGBs, 88% of my stash fits at least one STGB or GB next year and before anyone quotes Enzo, building them all would require me to finish a build every 1.26 days! Don't get me wrong, I'm up for the challenge, but not for the divorce that would inevitably follow.

Yes they do transport does not necessarily indicate from point A-B. It can be used as a mode of transport in a race or for recreation.

What about a glider that failed or didn't proceed past a prototypical stage ? Good example is the C-123 Provider transport planes were designed as a glider during WW2.

The obvious one would be this:

DSC_0033~2

This is F1, an LS8 which rather unusually doesn't have a G-reg. It's annex ii due to being the prototype a cancelled variant of the LS8, which added a sustainer engine and used different materials in the wings. The engine is long gone, but the materials are still non-standard. I could probably get access to this aircraft at Cranwell, i know the three co-owners (in fact one of them is the instructor who sent me on my first solo) and have the original files for the F1 graphic on the fin as I have previously considered a model of it.

So if my Maths is correct, is that 405 kits in said stash Julian??

(1.26 x 365) / -88% 🤓

Just passing on a small token of thanks to all GB hosts (successful or otherwise), @trickyrich and @Enzo the Magnificent for coming up with next years GB Calendar.

I think most of my time and energy will be invested in the two lengthy Classic GB’s, however I’ll try to visit and enter a number of others, more so to build something relatively recent and retain my sanity.

Should be a good show for 2024, lots of exploring the stash to see what will and won’t get built!

Cheers.. Dave

No you need to divide 365 by 1.26!

The XG-20 would definitely be welcome for Project Cancelled :)

I'm no expert on gliders but from a quick google image search that looks pretty much the same as a standard LS8, which isn't quite the spirit of Project Cancelled as it's meant to be for either totally cancelled projects or significantly different developments of existing vehicles. Nothing personal, Adam, I just don't want to open the gates to anyone building whatever they want and just claiming it's got a different engine in it (as an example). However, if you can prove me wrong on that or find something closer to the spirit of the GB, you'd be more than welcome :)

Wow - this is a great result! All my desired GBs got through.

I'm planning to build the full series of Curtiss Hawk biplanes in 1/48. Each one fits one of the GBs, and the spacing is ideal for synergies!

Classic Airframes P-6E for the Golden Age of Transport. I hope Yellow Wings are still welcome, Dennis @Corsairfoxfouruncle

Lindbergh F6C (Navy version of the Air Corps P-1) for the US Navy GB. It will be in Marine Corps livery- is that OK @LorenSharp?

Freedom Models Hawk III (BF2C) for the Asia GB. I guess you're happy with this choice, @Col.?

And finally I got a BFC (F11C) to complete the Curtiss line. I built it 25 years ago and it's due for restoration. This will be run concurrently. A long-harboured dream comes true 🤩. See you then guys!
