South of the Rio Grand. There is decent gliding in South America. Probably a glider.

Hi Adam!! yes, there is some decent gliding down here, I flew for many years with my old man over the Andes mounts in Chile ... if it is of your interest, here is a list of gliders of the Chilean Air Force:

- Grunau Baby

- Grunau 9

- Let L-13 Blanik

- Let L-23 Super Blanik

- Schempp-Hirth Ventus

- Schempp-Hirth Cirrus

- Schempp-Hirth Janus C (active service)

- Schempp-Hirth Janus Ce (active service)

- Schempp-Hirth Nimbus 3D (active service)

- Schempp-Hirth Nimbus 3DT (active service)

- Schempp-Hirth Nimbus 4

... and the colorful Cessnas Bird Dogs as towing aircrafts

Some of these were retired or sold to the civilian club..... BTW A nice story is that of Alejo Williamson, who crossed the Andes mountain range for the first time in a glider from Santiago, Chile to Mendoza Argentina, in a Blanik L-13 (CC-K7W) in December 1964. The glider rests in the aeronautical museum

Cheers

One of the guys from RAF Cranwell Gliding Club was down in Chile having a go in the Janus not too long ago. Then the Chileans came here to have a go in our Duo Discus

Yes, happy with this one Michael, are you going with ROCAF or RTAF markings?

well now the dust has settled and the sacred spreadsheet has been updated with all the GB'S/STGB's it looks like it'll be a reasonable quite year for me next year. With is probably a good thing as I do have a lot of other projects I really what to finish/start.

Baby Booms GB -  32nd Panther Fisher Model & Pattern have been looking for an excuse to build her for ages.

P-51 Mustang V STGB - 32nd Cavalier III Turbo Mustang, the Halberd Conversion, really looking forward to this build.

Tiger Tank STGB - not 100% sure what model I'll be building yet, late one I built was the old Airfix one 50+ years ago...maybe even dad built it for me??

US Navy GB - 48th VF-31 Tomcats.....as if I would build anything else...have 5 Tamiya birds to build

Made in Ukraine - 48th MiG-29 or Su-27UB or something else from the stash

Not many but should be an awesome year!

A black buck Vulcan would count.  Either over the Falklands or landed in Brazil with a broken FR probe

You might need to rethink that one mate as the idea of the GB is to build kits made in Ukraine rather than subjects in Ukrainian markings and I don't think any Ukrainian manufacturers have done those subjects in 1/48 yet.
