Here's my VW diorama...this is difficult to photograph because there isn't one angle that captures it all.  To find 5 that I like is tough.  I will post more close-up images in the RFI thread...basically everything I've got!  I thoroughly enjoyed this diorama and haven't built one this complex since I was in my 20's.  A long time ago.  I took some risks here and they paid off.  The is also my best attempt at rock texture to date.   Much of the ground cover is actual sand and rocks from the neighbourhood.   I'd like to have a title for this, but I am at a loss for what to call it...maybe something like "A Bit of Trouble Along the Way" or "Jerry's Got a Spanner in the Works"...not sure really.  Anyway, here's the WiP...

Here's my 1/72 scale rendition of a particular and peculiar Messerschmitt Bf. 109F-4, before it became a war trophy on the RAF's Bir el Asta aerodrome in mid 1942. Build thread here:

As you can see, it is included in a vignette along with a Kubelwagen that came from a second build in this GB. That'll be detailed in a following post...

This Kubelwagen, in 1/72 scale, came as a bonus sprue in a Dragon Sherman tank kit. I started it as my second build of the GB to accompany my Messerschmitt Bf.109F shown above. It was a filly and complicated little kit to get right so I propose it counts as a build of its own, and in fact it was finished first out of the two builds. Build thread here:

1/72nd scale, Rug Rat HS Andover C.1, XS604, 46 Sqn, 1968

This is my model of the Andover, a relatively short-lived aircraft in its original role as a transport aircraft with the RAF. It entered service in 1966 with 46 and 84 Squadrons, but they were disbanded in 1975. Some aircraft were retained in the communications role with No 60 Sqn and sone with 115 Sqn as E.3 for airfield calibration duties. Most of the rest went to New Zealand. The Rug Rat resin kit appeared in 1999 and is reminiscent of Magna models kits of that time.

WIP is here:

Thanks to our hosts Paul and Craig for this originally themed GB and to our very own circus ring master, the Magnificent Enzo. Another model out of the stash and into the light of day.

Heading off on holiday tomorrow so I won't be getting opportunity to take better pictures so here are the post build ones.

Lovely kit by Eduard and I'd happily build another and in particular happily use their new decals again! I went into some detail in the build thread how I very successfully removed the top layer.

Built from the old, but still decent AMT kit with the addition of Eduard Seatbelts and finished with Gunze, Lifecolor and Vallejo paints. The build thread can be found here:

Thanks for looking in.

Here's my take on the Revell (Matchbox) LRDG set. I'm a big fan of Matchbox kits, and this was a nice, fun build. Worst bit was fitting the driver and steering wheel in the Chevy, but the rest went together OK. Finished out of the box except I added a piece at the bottom of the Jeep's Browning .50 mount, as before it was sat far too low. Both vehicles brush painted in Humbrol 103 Matt Cream.

Didn't think I'd finish this in time but just squeaked over the finish line with a couple of days to spare!

Hobby Boss 1/32 Spitfire Vb with a few modifications to represent 244 Wing commander Ian Gleed's AB502:

tn_Spitfire Vb (93)

This was a fine kit with plenty of detail.

tn_Spitfire Vb (109)

I elected to try a mad idea of building two complete nose sections and make them interchangeable using magnets.

tn_Spitfire Vb (108)

Luckily it worked really well :yahoo:

Very pleased to have completed another groupbuild, thanks very much to @modelling minion @Dansk and @Enzo the Magnificent for setting us up and keeping us going. Also thanks to @81-er for the tireless encouragement, along with the aforementioned Craig.

All the best and wishing you a very happy 2024 :partytime:

“Wondering into the blue”- 1/48 tamiya Daimler dingo and tamiya crusader mk1.
Ok so not actually finished, missing a couple details such as a p40 tomahawk and two figures!
The crusader is also missing some stowage and it’s tow cables.
This will carry on in the new year but what I could finish within the deadline:

I kept on telling myself to upload the pictures into the gallery and days went by and I almost forgot!  Decent model, not without its faults, but easily overcome.  It looks best from 75cm...😂

I'd like to build the Special Hobby version.  It looks like a better kit all around.

Airfix’s 1/72 Curtis Tomahawk Mk IIB, built to represent AK461/A of No. 112 Sqn, Sidi Henish, November 1941. Decals are by Xtradecal and I added some Eduard PE belts, but everything else is OOB. Paints are Vallejo Azure and Mr Hobby Dark Earth and Middle Stone. The weathering is almost exclusively done with oils, the only pigments used were sand on the wheels & tyres and soot for the exhaust and gun smoke stains, all using Tamiya weathering sets.
