Zephyr91
A PAIR OF EMILS White 6 is the ICM Bf 109E, Black 8 is the old Airfix (1976 vintage) WIP here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235131218-was-that-a-camel-no-an-emil-or-possibly-2/ In keeping with the old Airfix kit, I also opened up and used some almost 40yr old Humbrol Authentic enamels. This is my second GB after a failed Blitzbuild so I've been pleased to get these over the line. I've enjoyed bulding alongside all the other desertees, and thanks for the company. Thanks also to the hosts and their unfailing encouragement and advice. Thanks for looking. regards Rob

ModelingEdmontonian
This is the 1/72 Airfix Spitfire Mk. F. 22 with Tigerhead decals Syrian Air Force markings built as part of my Spitfires-by-the-Seas project. Based on much friendly advice, I've brush painted with "sand" and "dark green" upper camo and a light blue underneath. My kit didn't have a clear sprue, so I robbed an Airfix Mk V and Eduard Mk IX for windscreen and canopy. Otherwise she's built OOB. She is mounted on the stand with magnets, including one glued inside the bottom of the fuselage. Here's the underside: I left mine pristine-ish, but this is apparently how at least some of the Syrian Spitfires ended their lives! Thanks for a fun GB everyone!
PeterB
This is my Revell1/72 M1A2 Abrams in a desert type finish, perhaps from the time of the second Gulf War. Here is a link to the build thread - And here is the model itself. A simple OOB build and quite enjoyable. Pete
PeterB
An here is the Revell 1/72 kit of the export T-72M in Iraqi colours - another pretty straightforward build but I was encouraged to try the "hairspray" weathering technique to show the paint chipped and worn and the original Soviet green showing through in places. Here is a link to the build thread- I suppose logically I should have kept the "chipping" for the much older T-55 I also modelled, but it was an interesting experiment as I had never tried it before. PeterB
And here is the third of my batch of desert armour, the PST T-55 with the odd modification to make it look like one the Iraqi army used in the Gulf Wars. The build thread is here- And here is the tank. The PST range of tank kits is actually quite good, though they are hard to find these days, being made in Russia. The rear fuel drums are actually the worst part of the kit and the above macro shot shows the problem. Pete
Torbjorn
Finally managed to finish. Hobby2000 rebox of Hasegawa Macchi 202. Built pretty much out of the box to depict the airframe of tenente Juilio Reiner of the 73rd squadron stationed at Fuka, Egypt in 1942. PeterB
Back in around 2011 Italeri released a couple of sets of 1/72 "snap-fit" Italian armour intended for wargaming and I bought a few of them. For this GB I have built a couple of "Carro Armato" M13/40 medium tanks and a couple of the Semovente M40 da 75/18 self propelled artillery/tank destroyers. Here is a link to the build thread. The first two I finished as part of the Ariete (Ram) Armoured Division in the plain light sand finish that was generally used between 1941 and the early part of 1943. And as there were 2 in each box, I built a couple more in different camo schemes - a M13/40 in an early scheme following the change from the old dark grey/green to sand with some green striping as a disruptive pattern, and a Semovente in the new "official" scheme introduced early in 1943 of dark sand with green and red/brown patches. Nice simple kits of something not commonly available in this scale, which fills a gap in my collection of desert armour. When first introduced the M13/40 was comparable and some times even better in terms of armour thickness and firepower to contemporary British and German tanks though the internal layout was poor and they had reliability problems. Before long however they were outclassed and Italian industry and designers proved incapable of doing much more than just tinkering with an obsolescent design - the final M15/42 version having a slightly more powerful gun, and thicker armour with a lengthened hull to take a modestly more powerful engine. They used the same chassis to make a self propelled artillery version with a short 75mm in a fixed boxlike structure, and as with the German Stug III it was found that the lower silhouette, coupled with a fairly effective AT round made it a passable tank destroyer. stevehnz
A Desert Storm Marine AH-1W from the Revell kit. It soon became obvious it was in fact an Italeri kit, but gamely I soldered on & got a result I'm quite pleased with. the build thread is here. Thanks to all who ran the GB & those who gave encouragement along to way. It's been a goodun. Steve.
