Andy Young
Just been looking at the S&M Models website. At the top is the very sad news that Mel Bromley has passed away. Understandably they are not taking any further orders. Mel was always a "must see" character at many model shows and always great to have a chat with. A fair number of my models were bought from Mel - he always had stock that was very interesting. He'll be sorely missed on the model show circuit, a true gentleman. Team Aer Lingus
Echo your message Andy, Mel was an absolute gentleman very funny and a real credit to our hobby. Says a lot about the man that my missus is upset at the news too as over the past number of years he had become a friend to both of us. My stash has quite a lot of his kits decals in it & it's very sad news to hear he's passed on. We had both looked forward to seeing him shortly with lockdown lifted. May he rest in peace Eamonn

Paul J
I am really shocked to be reading this. And really upset. I have known Mel for years. We go back to the 1970s. Between us we ran a small club in Horsham and at Christmas we at the club, would meet at his house and have nice goodies and drinks. Lovely man and, as has been mentioned his attendance at shows always produced some interesting kits on sale as well as his smart appearance. I am missing him already. RIP Mel, and thanks for everything.

Eric Mc
Quite upset by this. I always had nice chats with him at various shows and he always had an interesting selection of kits and decals for sale. I was looking forward to getting back to show-going partly with a view to being able to chat with Mel again.

Hardtarget
Such sad news indeed. He was a really top bloke, always approachable and happy to have a chat. His most recent Canberras were one of his most successful projects to get off the ground and was a success. He will be sorely missed at models shows adn as people have said he was a go to man at the shows to see what he has produced this time.

BallsBuster
Shocking news.... Mel was the first trader I bought a model kit from at the show. At a small jumble in Dulwich College. I never missed a chance to chat with him at the shows since. A big loss to all of us and the hobby. Sincere condolences to the family RIP, Mel...

spruecutter96
I can only echo the sentiments that have already been expressed here.... this is a very sad occasion. I had known Mel for a number of years from the model-show circuit and he was always a genuinely friendly, happy man, with a great sense of humour, too. I'm sure there's many people around the UK who will miss him. My thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time. R.I.P. Mel. You were one of the best. Chris.
