Murdo
Hi all, Here's my effort on the Airfix Short Stirling. A really interesting kit to build due to its age. I was building it for a campaign on here but didn't get it finished in time. I scratchbuilt some cockpit parts but they can't really be seen due to the canopy thickness. I re-did the turrets a bit but again, thanks to the thick plastic it was a bit of a waste of time. And the whole beastie: Hope you like it! By the way, on the box art the Crabs seem to be loading the bombs on backwards:
Selwyn
I know its an old kit, but it still looks the business! Selwyn PS: get some chocks under those wheels! (Selwyn runs for cover yet again!)

Spookytooth
Nicely done Murdo. Did you mod the turrets, if I remember rightly the old Airfix ones had the gunners moulded holding the machine guns, they looked horrible. I used to cut most of the body away to leave just the boss which the guns were mounted on? Simon.

Alan Kelley
Love it. Have a bit of a soft spot for Stirlings, seeing as they were built just up the road from me.

Tabio
That's a beaut! Shame l that hard work is hidden up now. I may have a remedy for you though, painting Klear on canopies makes them appear much more transparent and thin, maybe that will help reveal that nice interior work

galgos
That looks very good, an "ugly beautiful" Stirling! All we need now (PLEASE) is for Airfix to make one in 1/48th scale! Max
robvulcan
Gorgeous works I life the Stirling do huge and gorgeous. I wish we could make a life size static replica. I knew a chap who flew them. He was a prisoner of war after he had to bail out after his Stirling was hit by a bomb falling from another plane above. He escaped and somehow made his way home to blighty. Love the diorama. The figures really add dimension to it all. Excellent cheers Rob Edited March 4, 2014 by robvulcan
