Sharknose 1/12

My #11 from Model Factory Hiro. It was driven by P.Hill during the Italian GP in 1961 :)

As the others have said, that is just amazing.  A beautiful model of a beautiful F1 car - incredible depth of detail and quality of finish.  The sharknose Ferrari comes from my era when F1 cars were beautiful in their own right, as yet unsullied by aerodynamics of any nature, and this is a wonderful  example of that era brilliantly executed.

I'm fascinated by the fact that it appears to be running both 6 volt and 12 volt electrical systems - I wonder what that could be for?

Always been my favourite racing car. I did look at buying one of these kits, but I could not do it justice. I only have a Wills Finecast version sitting in the stash.

If it wasn't for the fact that Ferrari destroyed all of the cars, I would have thought this was the real thing. Outstanding work.

What a beauty! The detail, the finish, the sheer shine of the metal parts - incredible! This was my favourite Matchbox model as a boy.

On a close look it seems as if the 2 batteries are connected together (next to the firewall), making 18v, and giving a larger reserve capacity. Either the electrics needed the extra voltage, or the car didn't have any on-board charging system (not unusual in a pure racing car) and the extra capacity was used to power the electrics for the race's duration. With the installed magneto ignition system, there was nothing but the instruments to run, so no need for a generator or alternator which would only rob engine power.

Although I’m using a phone to view this, I have been zooming in and to me it appears that you have achieved something that few modellers ever do. I honestly can’t tell that it’s not a real, shined up museum exhibit. 10/10. Good all the way.

Thank you. 1/12 scale and MFH kits give the impression of authenticity that you describe. I love it !

I'm viewing your flickr account on a big screen now. That very slightly leaky radiator! The faint traces of grease on the suspension! The faint traces of dirt on the seat from the driver's overalls! Is that fuel inside the transparent fuel line?? The car is polished up but also weathered in the most realistic ways and that's why it looks real. Of course! Weathering, that is at first not even noticed, prevents this from looking like a toy so my brain perceives the car as a full sized one. You are very clever to take control of my mind with a model car. Wonderful workmanship.

There are photos visible on the Flickr account without captions, and I honestly don't know if they are references or models.
