Popular Post CT Modeller Posted March 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 1, 2021 BOAC Super VC10 Mid 1960s This is the Roden 1/144 kit with Two Six decals built from the box except for a bit of sanding around the nose to reduce the sharpness of the change in profile from parallel to tapered in plan view, and addition of the two small fences on each wing leading edge. I also emphasised the flaps, slats and spoilers slightly by some light scribing before highlighting with mid grey paint to get them to stand out a little more than the panel line engraving, which is nice but just a little heavy for this scale. 106 4
keith in the uk Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Lovely , one of the best looking airliners ever to take to the sky s. 1
Zulu Hotel Alpha Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 This VC-10 looks fantastic. I remember the VC-10 flying over my house in Karachi, Pakistan when BA used to serve KHI.
Skodadriver Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Excellent model Chris. Thanks for sharing. My aunt and uncle lived in Uxbridge in the 1960s and 70s and when we visited from Scotland a full day's spotting at Heathrow was always included. I still count it a privilege to have seen VC-10s "in the flesh". They were magnificent machines and your model is a fitting tribute. Dave G
Natter Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Haven't seen one of these posted for a while - gorgeous.
gazza l Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Beautiful modelling, looks great in that livery. gazza l
SAT69 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 (edited) I've wondered how the Roden kit built up and now I know. You've done a very fine job with that one. VC-10 is among the most elegant airliners ever. I rank it up there with the Comet 4 series. Edited March 1, 2021 by SAT69 misspell 1
michael301757 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Lovely model beautifully finished, surely one of Britains finest airliners. Cheers Michael. .
Butterfingers Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 As soon as I saw the thread title I thought VC10. And that is a lovely looking model.
Retired Bob Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 That is a superb looking VC10, a most beautiful aircraft and one of the nicest to be a passenger in, happy days.
Chanex Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Wow! What an amazing ‘clean’ build. Beautifully finished-I love it!!
stevehnz Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 That is quite lovely, might one even use the term gorgeous, to describe it? With it's lines & that livery, you've caught it at its best & wonderfully well. 👍 Steve.
Turbofan Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Hi Chris, This is awesome, like many I love the VC10 and yes it is the most elegant of them all. And this is a very elegant model, first time I've seen one with the clear windows too I think. Nice to see the wing detail highlighted because with the absence of Coroguard or anything that large wing could be quite bland so it keeps it looking busy. Thanks for posting, looking forward to more! Cheers, Ian
Ian Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Elegance realised.... simple as that. And those BOAC colours were perfect for that machine. Beautifully modelled, sir. Ian.

The windscreen outline decal was quite a bit bigger than the kit transparency so needed some carefully camouflaged touch ups with grey and black paint. I like the look of the nose overall on this kit, though. It captures the VC10 look better than Airfix, and many times better than the Mach 2 1/72 kit.
