Fishbed Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Another Sword Lighning kit finished. Nice little kits that build well with a bit of effort. This was built as a double build with the Mk2 version to complete the 1/2/3/T4/T5/6 set. These take a bit of effort to line everything up, but its worth the effort. Decals for this came from the kit. Not sure where the nose intake blank came from (may be airfix?). nose probe Master, nose wheel Barracuda along with the Red Tops. Various Alclad shade for the bodywork. Tim 62 1
Hairtrigger Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Superb result... Just one thing are those fins right on the missiles? No expert by far just wondering...
keith in the uk Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 cracking pair of Lightnings Tim , both fine models .
72modeler Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Wow- one of the better Lightning builds I can recall in 1/72 scale! Metal finish is very realistic! Love your choice of squadron, too! Mike

Yes for Red tops, Nicely built Lightning. What I would do is add a very thinned black wash to the wheels to enhance them a bit. It will be a bit more to the overall finish.🙃

stevehnz Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 A lightning in Treble One scheme. they really were the best, to my mind. I love the way you've done it. 👍
binbrook87 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Absolutely stunning. I do love the Sword lightnings. Yes they do take a little care and effort but as you have shown the results are well worth it. Superb job 👍👍
Booty003 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Very nice indeed, possibly my favourite Lightning scheme too. Great result.
ScaleModelHobbyist Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Tim, that’s beautiful work on the metallic finish (and the rest of the build). I am a big fan of this scheme, black fin over all natural metal, because it reminds me of the first model I built as a kid, a Matchbox kit. It’s nice to see what you’ve achieved here, thanks for sharing.
Hook Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Great work! An iconic Cold War Top Gun... what's not to love. Cheers, Andre
