ronnierex
1/48 Eduard 109G-4 "Black 1" Oblt. Franz Schiess 8./JG 53 Photos: Jason Brewer // Brewer Models I wrapped up this G4 right before the end of the year. The model is finished out of box from the Royal kit. I used EagleCals for this fun set of markings. I have to say, this has to be one of my favorite schemes that I've done in a while. I really like the RLM 78/79/80 combo. I'm looking for more of these Sicily/Italy schemes. I used Tamiya, Mr. Paint, and vallejo colors for this build. Thanks to Brewer for the pics! ronnierex
2 hours ago, Billy T. Pilgrim said: That's gorgeous. Did you preshade? I didn't pre-shade per se, but I did build up the colors. I did a modified "black base" by just using the bare plastic as the base. I lighted the color two times and built up the lightest spots to be in the center of panels or details and left the panel lines to be the darkest. The panel wash did the rest of the shading. Billy T. Pilgrim
Nice. It's subtle as hell in a way I'd kill to be able to pull off :-)

It's subtle as hell in a way I'd kill to be able to pull off :-) I just try to marble or "squiggle" the colors or lightened colors together and then spray a super thin base coat over it all. I think its actually easier than a pre-shade. Another thing that may help you is the I apply the panel wash over a flat/semi-flat coat. That way, some of the wash gets stuck in the finish around the panel line/rivets. It doesn't wipe off as easy as over a glossy surface. That's new for me, @Brewer got me to try that and I like it a lot. does that make sense?
