WildeSau75
So we can expect a new Halifax too at some time ? would be nice too but honestely I would rather have some new tool 1/72 and 1/48 jets like Vampire, Venom and Hunter. We got quite some new WWII prop planes from Airfix lately. Cheers, Michael

DaveCS
Wow!!! This is totally something that I really shouldn't be buying to build (I stick to Canadian flown British aircraft from WW I / WW II and RCAF birds) but I can't resist because I have loved the B-17G since I was a boy. That is going on my list for next year. I am really impressed by Airfix - what a way to bring things back to life - well done Hornby!! Well done! NPL
Airfix is doing an incredible job these days. High quality, low prices, and interesting subjects, while at the same time the Japanese manufacturers mostly dingle around with esotic subjects of little interest to the serious modeller.

hacker
Anybody want to buy my Revell 1:72 B-17G kit? Cheers, Bill Why? It's a good kit too and affordable. I have two, a "B" and the Revell "G" but will be getting the F
bbudde
So now I can sell my Revell. No more headaches with awful nose blister. Hope they will do a F version also. And I think I will wait till a new Halifax, Stirling or Sunderland will be announced. Now I'm sure they will exchange all their classic and beloved ones. And I love their new supprt set, especially the Autocar tanker. I would like to see a german supply set with an Opel Blitz tanker and a Hanomag Henschel fire truck. This one: http://www.historische-feuerwehrtechnik.de/Fahrzeuge/Ts-2-5a/Geschichte-Ts/geschichte-ts.html Well done Airfix . I'm coming Edited August 28, 2015 by bbudde
DaveCS
Airfix is doing an incredible job these days. High quality, low prices, and interesting subjects, while at the same time the Japanese manufacturers mostly dingle around with esotic subjects of little interest to the serious modeller. It's not that the Japanese manufacturers are creating some esoteric subject matter; it's that they are not really creating any "new" kits per se. They are reboxing older moulds with new decals to create "new" subject matter but it's the same old aircraft. Esoteric subject matter and unique aircraft is best left to the Eastern European kit makers I believe (MPM / Special Hobby / RS / Sword / AZ / etc. ) as they seem to do well with them in their short / limited runs. Yes, Airfix's B-17 and some of their other releases are "not new" in the sense that they had been released before but the moulds were sorely in need of retooling and/or were entirely wrong to begin with (Defiant for example). What Airfix is doing is "getting it right" and, in doing so, they're creating a loyal following of new AND old Airfix builders. It's really hard to fault them, even after the initial "trenches for panel lines" complaints of the earlier new tool releases. The engineering, the subject matter, and the price point all add up to a winning solution for Airfix, Hornby and modellers. Where they were once in ashes, a phoenix is reborn! Tbolt
Why? It's a good kit too and affordable. I have two, a "B" and the Revell "G" but will be getting the FI didn't think Revell did a B?I've got a F & G to build, but the panel lines are a bit heavy and the nose glazing is really thick, so they need a bit of work, but the Airfix kit has the staggered waist windows so will be for later aircraft, though hopefully they will do other version. 593jones
Well, I didn't expect that! Great stuff, Airfix, you've made an old man very happy Edited August 28, 2015 by 593jones
old thumper
Looking forward to the USAAF bomber supply set much more than the actual bomber, it is shame they haven't included that caterpillar tracked tug thing (clacktrack or something) that I can never remember the name of. I don't understand why Airfix have felt the need to bring another B17 onto the market, the current rebox looks good enough for me. Having said that I will probably buy the new kit just the same. colin
I can see the resupply set going into 1/48, wonder if they'll be brave enough to do the B17 in it,

Max Headroom
Nice! Not my bag but a lot of people will be very chuffed. Just a thought, but if they were in the AAM in Duxford, might they have looked at other exhibits too? B-25J, F-15A......? Trevor
Beard
If making such well-known aircraft as the B17 means Airfix can produce kits of lesser-known stuff, I'll be very happy. I may even buy one but only if they do 'A bit of lace' as a decal option... just for old times sake.
mungo1974
Ya know for 25 years or so I've had a plan to build one B-17 from every 8th AF Bomb Group in 1/72 all with their late war colourful Group markings Maybe.....just maybe it's time to put that plan into action.
