Panzer 38(t) Ausf G in 1:35 scale

Recommended Posts

Hi all. A few months back I finished this Panzer 38(t) Ausf G in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. Having a bit of a penchant for the less mainstream stuff, I opted to finish the model in Bulgarian army colours and mounted it on a resin base from Black Dog. I like to think that the base shows the tank on the streets of Sofia, sometime in 1944 around the time Bulgaria defected to the allies. The tank is OOB and is finished in Wehrmacht dark yellow overall with the weathering done in oil washes and AK pigments. As the riveting is so prominent on this tank I chose to wash and highlight each and every individual rivet - a painstaking job but I like to think it paid dividends in the end. The radio aerial is a stiff bristle from an old paintbrush. Hope you like it !

Mike

Nice I like the often overlooked in favour of more glamorous later stuff too. Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) is a historically important subject. :goodjob:

Yes, I do like it. Great paintwork. I like the bristle idea, it won't break when you catch it with a sleeve!

Thanks Bertie. One old brush will give you a lifetime of radio aerials! 😆

That's really nice work, I really like what you have done with the rivets, I hate to have all that detail disappear, you've highlighted them nicely (in my opinion from an aesthetic standpoint).

I only went up a shade or two from the base colour but combined with the dark wash around each rivet base, I tried to make them pop out just a bit more. Many thanks for visiting and commenting!

I have used whiskers from my cat before now. They would fall out on their own from time to time and I'd find and save them. Much easier than using the pliers...

That’s lovely! Great paint job, and nice little street scene.

Hi Mike,

A great job with that little tank, already at 1/35 scale, my favorite, which has been great with that arena livery, and very well integrated into that small base.
I have a command T38 somewhere, half done, and I would like it to look at least as good as yours...
Cheers and TC
Francis.👍
