sniperUK
The new tool Airfix Buccaneer finished as S.2D XN981 ,809 NAS, HMS Ark Royal . Built straight from the box using Hataka and Tamiya paints. a fantastic kit to work on ,the only fit problem was ejection pin marks on the inner tailplane surfaces. Having helped with the development of this kit since the original scanning of XV361 at the Ulster Aviation Society it has been a brilliant feeling getting one completed. FAAFAN
Nice job on the finish. I beat the original into submission years ago and still have it in my collection. How is the interior on the new release? Is it more detailed than the original?

Apart from seat belts if you don't want to use the supplied decals you need nothing to add.

David H
Looks Wonderful, Tony! I was expecting by now to be deep in my build, but Airfix customer service is being once again capricious and indifferent, and they're telling me i'll have to wait til November to get mine, despite the fact others here in the states have theirs already. Looks like a great kit, but Hornby is definitely not winning friends and influencing people... 1

Retired Bob
Lovely Buccaneer. Just started assembling mine, glad you didn't use the kit colour call outs for the MARTEL missiles, not sure where Airfix got theirs from? I worked on MARTEL and Sea Eagle missiles for several years (too many) The TV variant should have a black cover over the glass nose part, it remained in place until launch when a small gas generator cartridge blew it off the missile. David H
EDIT: I finally got my hands on a new Airfix Buccaneer but in the interim i got impatient, so i picked up a Shelf-of-Doom exile from Brian Scott (F104nut) and got pretty far along with this... Will probably not do another Buccaneer build thread, but it's a cracking fun build once you learn how to go about fitting it together. -d-
