JOCKNEY
I've already popped my Heller P-51 into the GB when it occurred to me, I have something far more appropriate, so how about this  Picture from Scalemates  Now I know what you're saying, goodness me I've never heard of "Beechnut Models" or the F-51 H.  Well the kit quality if I'm honest looks like it was made in someone's shed but we all like a challenge don't we  As for the difference between a P-51 and a F-51, I've no idea, but I'm confident someone will tell me !  Cheers Pat
Wings unlevel
I guess there are a couple of vaguely Mustang-shaped blobs in that packet, Pat! 🤪 Looks like fun!  (No difference between P-51 and F-51 - just reflects the change in designation of all P-XX (P for pursuit) designations to F-XX designations (F for fighter) introduced with the establishment of the US Air Force in 1947.) 2
jean
Hi Pat,  you missed the most important warning: "NOT FOR CHILDREN"... And you still want to try and build it? Is that a lollipop in the top right of the sachet or a wheel and undercarriage leg? And just for you to have more fun, I seem to see that butt joints reign supreme! All I can say, once more, is: Enjoy!  Cheers mate.  JR

The P-51H is a great choice but I’ll stick with the RS boxing that I have or possibly buy the Modelsvit 1/48 kit.
trickyrich
Wow that is something a bit different, very cottage industry looking, thought they did produce some quite interesting models. Â It should be a nice straightforward build for you Pat.
JOCKNEY
OK, brace yourselves, this is the contents of the packet....   Now I know I have a reputation for building lost causes, but even I am wondering if this is worth it ?  I think trying to improve it, would be a monumental task and where do you stop ?  The alternative is build it OOB with aftermarket decals, ( it doesn't come with any ) as an example of this kits manufacturer, after all I don't have any others, nor if I'm honest am I likely to add to them  Thoughts ?  Cheers Pat
Karearea
I would be inclined to stick it all together, sand and fill to at least get the overall shape nice, and just paint it in a single colour as a simple speed form.
Courageous
Well Pat, my High Planes racer looks like a bigger bag of nails than yours! I tend to take on lost causes like yourself and if it was my build, I'd drop the flaps for interest. Â Stuart 2 1

marvinneko
I examined a discount bin Pegasus kit at the local shop a few months ago, took a close look, and tossed it back. And yours looks worse   I'd say go nuts on it. It's a chance to do something wild and experimental or artistic. Like those captured & chopped planes riding in railways cars.
2996 Victor
This looks ever more interesting, Pat: good luck with this short-run (more like a trip and a stumble) kit!!! I had a Beechnut Wings Curtiss YP-37 (my absolute fave aeroplane) and that was so awful I just binned it  Cheers, Mark
trickyrich
you made it back......to the cold!!!!  🤣  I think it looked better in the plastic bag....a little less blob like!  As someone said, build it, smooth it all out then paint it chrome and put it on a stand, that'd look really nice. 1 1
jean
Go for a classic plastic build. Build it OOB, make it look nice, paint it like the real thing, add some decals if you want,. It will be a testimony to what masochist modelers buy. when self flagellation is not enough any longer  I am sure you'll enjoy.  JR
JOCKNEY
OK, I'm taking @trickyrich advice, yes really !  So, some progress to report     Nothing really fits, but no surprises there  More later  Cheers Pat 6
marvinneko
Butt joints for props onto the spinner? Is this your punishment for the kit you sent Jean?
2996 Victor
You're a man of strong will and great resolve, Pat. This makes me more and more relieved that I dumped my Beechnut YP-37. But I'm sure you will hew a sculpture from this block of marble*.  Cheers, Mark  * they call him Leonardo Jockney!

JOCKNEY
OK, brace yourselves but I've managed to get wings attached and it's beginning to show a passing resemblance to a Mustang   I spared you the filler pictures    Cheers Pat
HarryHobbyin
holy crap.... it looks like a p-51  good work that kit looks super hard too build.
