Nice progress, Simon!!

Thank you sir.

Thanks @CJP, @Dr. Quack, @Hamden, and @Chemguy3000.

Well I finally got it together after a few trials and tribulations.

A couple of wonky fitted parts and a nib or so.

2 hours of care got me to here.

DSCN4333

And my winter warmer arrived this morning.

DSCN4334

On its lowest setting it raised the temp by 6. C, all for 10p an hour.

Not bad really.

Simon, sitting warm now.

Gannet coming together nicely Simon.

I'm envious of your heater I wish I had room for one in my cave!

    Stay safe           Roger

Glad you're staying warm   And great to see the fuselage in one piece!

Ciao

It`s nice to be warm when at the bench Giorgio.

Thanks @Thom216.

Right, back out to the cave this evening for an hour and tried a wing fit plus seam check.

Well, the dihedral looks ok.

DSCN4335

Top seam ok but Port wing join will need some attention though, not much .

DSCN4336

Almost but just not there.

DSCN4337

Starboard side great.

DSCN4338

Rear seam, blurred but good.

DSCN4339

Same as the nose seam.

DSCN4340

It died LOL.

DSCN4341

I checked the rudder as well and a good fit there.

Hope to progress more tomorrow.

Stay warm chaps.

Simon.

Hi Simon - that cockpit detail looks very nice & busy now the fuselage is closed up - good to see you highlight places where the fit differs as in port & starboard wing roots - its going to be an impressive model

Looking good Simon.

The wings will fit in if you manipulate them.

I found the first fit really tight but if you angle it in slightly from the leading edge it clicks in nicely.

I have seen some builds where the wing spars required a little chamfering on the top corner to get the fit right.

Cheers,

Alistair

Cheers Chris, I was not sure if it was me or the kit but @AliGauld pointed out some work may be needed on the spars, which is true.

I needed to gradually scrape them before the fit was good not like a stick in a bucket.

You can revive it! Looks like it takes up an impressive amount of space.

I did Thom, and yes she a size (I will measure up later)

Thanks for the heads up on that one Alistair, a bit of tweaking and she fits well now, hopefully (we know how the modelling gods' work)

Thanks @Hamden, @giemme, and @cobraleader

Elevators fitted to the tail planes.

DSCN4342

1 small gap to fill just behind the rear window.

DSCN4343

Radome and nose intake together now.

DSCN4344

With wings and tail planes fitted she quite big.

DSCN4345

The tail planes fit just lovely (no glue there yet, I will wait until painted before fitting.)

DSCN4346

I will attempt a bit this evening probably so..

Keep warm.

Simon.

Thanks @Thom216 and @Hamden.

Right @CJP and @Thom216 she is big, approx 10 inches long and 13 wide.

And weighs a bit with the lead counterbalance added.

A fettle after tea Fnar got the port wing sorted.

I would say to anyone who goes to build this kit is build the wings up first and check the fit of the  spars before starting the cockpit area.

Anyway port wing.

DSCN4347

About as good as it is going to get.

Now the engine intake.

DSCN4348

DSCN4349

Again about as good as it goes for me.

Left it like that until morning.

Simon.

Great progress .... and really useful info about the wing fit and what/where to check.

While aircraft are not my thing, there's something that draws me to this one 🤔

I'll keep following along from the quiet corner ....  Next to the heater! 🤣

As you now have most of the components available, have you tried a balance test to see if you have enough nose weight?

There is more than enough there Airfix recommend 75 grammes, I have put 85.

Also did a check and well nose heavy.

Nicely done Simon,

I needed to blend the cowling a bit to get the look I wanted but it's a minor thing.

Cheers,

Alistair

I had to do a bit of filing to get it to fit Alistair, it`s not perfect but doable now.

Thanks @Hamden, @CJP, @cobraleader, @Thom216, @Farmerboy, @coneheadff, and @shortCummins.

As I pointed out the engine intake/nose area needs sorting but not as bad as I thought.

DSCN4350

The rear fuselage/fin area got some gloop to hide a fine crack.

DSCN4351

The Radome cowling fitted and some work there ( abit of zealous trimming by me I am  afraid.

DSCN4353

Masking the clear stuff next.

DSCN4354

I am happy with this lot.

DSCN4355

DSCN4356

DSCN4357

Back out there later to clean up the gloop areas.

Stay warm.

Looking rather splendid Simon,

I'll need to get a move on with mine.

Cheers,

Alistair

Don`t rush her Alistair, she is worth taking time.

Thanks @Thom216 and @Hamden.

Finishing off for today.

Engine intake/nose cowling fettle in, just a final polish there.

DSCN4358

Gap filled by the radar cowling.

DSCN4359

And ailerons fitted.

DSCN4360

I also rubbed down the gloop on the spine and nose area to.

Let`s see what can be done tomorrow.

Splendid progress Simon - always amazed me how this aircraft manages to look so big at any scale! Glad to see you got some head sorted too. 😊

I was surprised to Tony, there again, she is a three seater and side by side engines.

The heater is a blessing.

Thanks @shortCummins, @Hamden, @cobraleader, @AliGauld, @giemme, @Thom216, and @CJP.

More done today in the cave.

Sonar buoys painted Orange, I made a mistake painting them Red.

DSCN4361

Will re-do the Black later.

Wingtips

added.

DSCN4362

Filler time again.

After giving the nose area a rub a little dent was spotted.

DSCN4363

Also when looked through the radar hole I saw daylight from the tail fin area so..

DSCN4364

A gap was filed on the radome housing.

DSCN4365

And still a minor imperfection at the end of the bomb bay.

DSCN4366

Time for brunch.

Stay warm.

Thanks @giemme, @shortCummins, @Hamden and @TheBaron.

I spent this afternoon cleaning up various parts.

Props.

DSCN4367

U/C.`s

DSCN4368

The nose area.

DSCN4369

The radome housing.

DSCN4370

Still work to do there but minor.

And tail fin again, an annoying seam that won`t play the game so gloop it!!!

DSCN4372

I see tomorrow as a painting priming day.
