IRIAF Mirage F.1EQ6 SpecialHobby 1/72

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, this is my first post on Brit modeller, so wish me luck!!

Standard Specialhobby Mirage F.1.... Nice little kit of the famous French aircraft. Builds up OK, with minor problems here and there.... I tried to replicate, EX Iraqi, Iranian EQ.6, first flown in October 1993. by late Col. Nahdi Beik, using Berna models decals, which were a disappointment being too thick and hard to work with. I have upgraded the Martin Baker Mk.10 seat, riveted the model and added Masters pitot tube.. Although i am not convinced by SH choice, i have used recommended colours. I hope that you will like the result! Cheers!

Very nice! Love the F1, and in exotic colors even more so!

🥳

I thought that the EQ5 was the grey , anti shipping expect missile carrier... have to read that up again!

The SH kit seems to be a gem... maybe I need to switch scales.... 🤔

Hey, thanks!! Botha EQ5 and EQ6 were painted in naval color scheme… Some EQ5s, as i recall, were painted in iraqi camo pattern tho…. Everything that you need to know about Mirages F.1 in Iraqi service is in Miguel Garcias book! A lot of pictures and practically everything that you need and don’t need to know about the topice 😅!

SH kit is good, not the easiest to deal with bud far from short run! The worst part was fitting the nose… that didn’t go well on both SH Mirages that i built… A lot of filler was required there. The rest of the kit fits generally well. The problem is that seem lines are not clean enough, so you need to fill them a little bit and sand them down… Since the kit is full of details, restoring them back to. 100% is, nearly, impossible! So you need to take your time, be patient, and it will be worth it at the end!!
