dalea
What's left? Mitsubishi F1M Mitsubishi C5M Both ubiquitous at beginning of Pacific War. Nakajima J1N invented Schrage musik, forced change of tactics on the Americans, and sent the Japanese Army down the Kokoda Track.Gotta be worth a mention. The Aichi E11A and E16A need all the friends they can get.

NPL
Spitfire Mk.I, Spitfire Mk.II, Spitfire Mk.V, etc etc. Andamong these the Mk.XIV as my preferred mark, perhaps mostly because there is no decent kit in 1/48. Among the lesser well-known, the Arado 234, a most elegant and important plane.
foxfriend
Too many to mention! Basically most aircraft that flew in WWII. However, to mention just one, it has to be the Hurricane. It pains me when it gets cast aside by the majority when it comes to the Battle of Britain, everyone goes on about the Spitfire. Don't get me wrong, the Spitfire is a truly beautiful aircraft, and I love them to bits, but there is something about the Hurri's chunky looks, with that big thick wing. Without it I think we would have been in trouble!!
mackem01
I've deliberatly held off on this one as I wanted to see how things went, and suprisingly I find myself in a minority. There's only one name that I would come up with - the Hawker Hurricane. She was there in numbers when we needed her, historically she marked the transition from wood and fabric to metal, the steed of Fighter Commands only VC, and she proved her worth wherever we put her - Africa, Asia, at sea. Without her things could have been different. Yep - the only name that springs to mind in answer to this topic.
gingerbob
For an wide range of interesting modelling subjects, you can't go far wrong with the three big Hs - Hurricanes, Harvards, and Halifaxes. Not Hamilcars, Hotspurs, and Hendy Hecks? When this thread first started I turned my back- might as well ask someone which their favorite child is (I've only got one, though). But, out of morbid curiosity, I just took a quick skim through. You're all exactly right! bob

Blue Monday
Two of my favourites would be the Blohm und Voss 222 and Flettner FL282. Both very impressive pieces of aeronautical engineering for their time. It is difficult not to like the B-29 and Mosquito too. BM. Airgunner
For me, the Mk.1 Spitfire, then anything else that flew in the Battle of Britain, but do have a soft spot for the Dornier 17. Lancasters and Mosquitos too. US wise, I quite like the Art Deco look of the B-17 cockpit area, but not much else really. Absolutely no interest in anything Russian or Japanese for some reason. gingerbob
Well, this may come as a surprise to some of you, but I do feel compelled to mention the PBY. If I could, I would have one, and I'd get my friend a type rating so that he could do the work while I lounged in the bubbles back aft taking in the scenery. bob

Bobski
Mitsubishi Zero, hands down. It's a beautiful aircraft and it was a formidable fighter - better than anything else until about 1943 (according to test flying legend Captain Eric "Winkle" Brown). P.o Prune
Single Engine: Spitfire Mk.Ia Twin Engine: C-47 Multiple Engine: B-17 But it's a hard choice. The Tempest is a beautiful plane. I like it better than the Typhoon. The thin wings made it look so more elegant. the MDman
Well, who doesn't like the Spit. My favourites are without a doubt the Mark 5b and the Mark 9. Not only because of their beauty, but also their power and role in the war. But when it comes to sheer beauty: FW190 Dora-9 Edited December 1, 2014 by the MDman
dfqweofekwpeweiop4
It's difficult for me to split it down into countries and say what was my favourite from each country as that's not how I think. For example, I don't really have a favourite Japanese aircraft, they're all interesting and I have many Japanese aircraft models to make but I can't really single any out! My favourite aircraft are WW2 fighters, it's what I model the most starting with the Spitfire and Fw190 ( I can't decide between them), I also really like the Bf109, Thunderbolts, Mustangs, Hurricanes and even P-40's, I must have in excess of 20 models of Spitfires and Mustangs and almost 20 Fw190's and Bf109's. I'm well into double figures with Hurricanes and P-40's too and must have about 10 Thunderbolts. I love the variety within these single types both with all the different marks and with the US fighters - the colourful schemes and markings. I do like and make other aircraft types too, I've got several Mossies and Ju88's for example and quite a few larger bombers and jets. So I'm not totally one tracked but the bottom line is the Spitfire and Fw190. My favourite type of each is the Spitfire VIII and Fw190A-9. thanks Mike Edited December 1, 2014 by Mikemx

Pauly Boy
As the header says " Favourite WWII Aircraft". Not because it was the fastest, prettiest, biggest, couldn't have survived without it, could perform any roll. Just my favourite .... Brewster Buffalo. Always the underdog.
