Diego Quijano Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Hello friends: To recreate the landing moment, the flaps and slats were cut off to put them in landing position, the air brakes and arresting hook was extended and I also had to enlarge the front landing gear to the completely extended position. The painting has nothing especial except the fluid leaks of the underside. The large amount of lettering is what adds interest to the final look. A few more pics here: Scaleworks Cheers. Q 3
Mikey58 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Wow,amazing,the best one I've seen!I love the pose too-well done! Mike
mrvr6 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 looks immense no way in a million years would you think that was 72 scale! how do you do the fluid leaks?
crobinsonh Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Looks fantastic. I wish the US navy still used the ho-vis markings!
TEZ Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Beautifully done. Love your attention to detail, especially so regarding the crew figures. regards Andrew
general melchett Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Outstanding, particularly as it's 72nd.......................wonderful stuff on your site too, you have a great eye for detail Diego............
woody37 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Love the weathering. Beautifully finished kit. This would look great on a base painted as a carrier deck.
Tabio Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Perfect, simple as that !Ian Just what I was going to say! Perfect
MikeR Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Great model! Always have liked the Jolly Rogers scheme. Mike.
David H Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Beautiful Model, Diego!! I have a F-4B almost finished. The Hasegawa Phantom looks great once assembled but its such a fiddly pain-in-the-bottom to finish. Thanks for posting!! -d-
attman007 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Very nice indeed better than most 1/48 models. Is there a base for the model or one on the way?
Shaun Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Stunning! Just needs a carrier deck and a cable in the hook to finish it off. Shaun.
Diego Quijano Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) looks immense no way in a million years would you think that was 72 scale!how do you do the fluid leaks? I think the best way of doing that kind of effect is with oil paint. You paint the leak with a fine brush and when the solvent is dry you can rub with a clean brush to blur the borders. It is a bit tricky at the begining until you get the right density of oil paint, but it is not difficult. Edited November 2, 2010 by Diego Quijano
Diego Quijano Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Very nice indeed better than most 1/48 models. Is there a base for the model or one on the way? Thank everybody. About the base, the plane is displayed over a mirror so the paintjob of the undersurface can be observed, but I think it would be a good idea to paint the carrier landing marks over the mirror and add the arresting hook. Maybe I do that. Thanks again people. Q Edited November 1, 2010 by Diego Quijano
Alan P Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 1/72 you say?! That's a might impressive result, the range of panel shades and spot-weathering is very convincing at that scale. Excellent work!
