Mistubishi (Nakajima) A6M5c Zero Type 52c - Academy 1/72

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is my Academy A6M5c.

Simple and easy kit. I meant to work on Japanese camouflage colours..

Japanese colours (green and greys especially) seem to be less standardized than US or British colours and I needed to improve my understanding of the matter (colours seem to differ according to aircraft type, subversion, manufacturer etc... )

Building was quite straightforward, kit is simple (some additionnal photos of the building details down this page. )

This is the aircraft as flown by WO Takeo Tanimizu, an ace who claimed 32 victories and who survived the war - 303 Hokutai - 203 Kokutai/303e squadron - 203e Air Group)

Kit is Academy. It is still quite a good model though probably not as good as Tamiya's. It lacks a few detail and main gear wells are far too shallow, which I did not mean to correct.

Instead I took time to correct and add details to cockpit, using a CMK detail set and some additionnal plastic card. i.

Hi all,

Thank you dearly to all of you.

This probably was the first step to building more Zeros, next models probably will be based on the Tamiya kit instead.

Just a really great build of the A6M5 Zero.  I really enjoyed looking at your work on the cockpit and added detail.  It will help me with my build.  The finish of the kit is also done just so well.  Thanks for sharing.

super build. Cockpit looks amazing. Having built their P-47s, 190s and 109s, I can safely say that Academy's 72nd single-seat fighters very rarely look anything like the machines they are supposed to represent. This one certainly does.
