Robertone139
There are a couple of photos circulating of a Ukraine Air Force Fencer sporting two Storm Shadows on its glove pylons, what is peculiar is that the belly of the aircraft has a distinctive yellowish hue, different from the blue/ grey of the wings. Does anyone know whther this is an ID feature or a special paint job? Su-24 with Storm Shadows
PhantomBigStu
Good question, been wondering if some kind of protective layer as its not been reported for understandable reasons a number of previously deactivated su-24 has been quietly reactivated, going by confirmed losses the SU-24 combat fleet is negative 2..... Shorty84
They are ID markings. Since Ukraine and Russia use the same aircraft types they paint the undersides or sides of their aircraft and helicopters in yellow and blue to avoid friendly fire. Robertone139
Nice, just need to figure out which is the most dimensionally accurate Storm Shadow between Revell (Tornado and Eurofighter), Hasegawa (Eurofighter and Weapons set) and Hobby Boss(Rafale). The adapter pylon seems like a modified KH-31 adapter.

Robin-42
Here is a closeup from a fellow pilot I follow on Telegram. It confirms the grafting on of a Tornado pylon to adapt the missile. The writing is “For Dimitri from Ukrainian Airlines and friends.” Dimitri was a close pilot friend of the blogger killed in the war. He also stated the photo is all over the internet, so no secrets are being revealed. Edit, I just noticed the photo has already been posted, but in a HARM thread. Search didn’t bring it up, that’s my excuse your honour. Edited July 4, 2023 by Robin-42

So Dimku is short/nick for Dmitri?
Dmitriy1967
The abbreviation of MAU can be anything, there are many such abbreviations in the Russian language. This may be the nickname of the one who wrote. And maybe anything up to the Moscow Artillery School, because this inscription is in Russian, not in Ukrainian. And it seems to me that the inscription was made in Photoshop on the photo, pay attention to the font, you can't write that with your hand.

It's just that even Wikipedia gives 17 different transcripts for these three letters in Russian. MAU (abbreviation) Material from Wikipedia Among which there are: Ufa International Airport Moscow Aviation Services massive air strike International Airlines of Ukraine Mikhailovsky Artillery School Moscow Academy of Management Moscow Aviation Hub Moscow Antimonopoly Department Moscow Artillery School I just said that I can't say exactly what is hidden under this abbreviation. But we have delved into linguistic research that has nothing to do with the topic of the forum. 🤝

From TheDrive Good find. Not one of their dark nosed digital camouflaged ones either. I have a 1/48 Su-24M I built ages ago and set aside at the paint stage, have recently gotten it out and have decided to go with the Ukrainian digital scheme, am hoping to hang some Storm Shadows on it.... This one's yellow bellied like the link photos. Yet another scheme.

vladpetso
Hello everyone. on the Storm Shadow missiles, the inscription means - revenge from friends and colleagues from the Ukrainian International Airlines airline company for pilot-instructor Dmytro Kryvenko, who died in the war with Russia. You see absolutely exactly repeating letters of the font.

I'm guessing that like Generals in every service the Ukraine 'Top Brass' would not be pleased to see someone take a paintbrush to one of their newest shiniest toys. Maybe after a few months once they had stopped taking a personal and up close interest in the arming of their aircraft would the ground crew start getting brave enough to add graffiti to the storm shadows but I guess photoshop is just as efficient as a paintbrush these days anyway as it's the photo in the media that is really the end target for this kind of thing. Remember the bird-head on the Bayraktar in @dimaADA thread? Oracal printed self-adhesive and plotter-cut decorations are extremely common in decoration of motorcycles, cars, trucks and also helicopters and aeroplanes (including Polish "Tigermeet" F-16) in Europe. These letters could easily have been self-adhesive stickers.
