Brandy
Wow, what an improvement! It does raise the question of quality control on the original though..... Ian

Ian Yes indeed - it’s been beautifully done and real testament to Peter’s talents. Do keep in mind the original part was hand crafted in someone’s garage many moons ago and other than the transparencies the overall kit is pretty accurate overall. A product of its time. tomprobert
Howdy, partners! I’ve put aside other jobs on the Stirling for the time being as I was really keen to get the new canopy to fit. I hate dealing with transparencies and cockpits in general so felt it would be good, psychologically, to get this part done, and then hopefully it’ll just be a drop fit towards the end of the build. As you saw in the previous post, the kit canopy was too big and incorrectly shaped. When I cut the fuselage ages ago, I used the kit transparency as a guide, not realising at the time how ‘out’ it was. As a result, I’ve had to build up the fuselage around the cockpit to match the new canopy - plastic card and Milliput white has done the job without issue, and it now drops in perfectly! A reminder of what I had in the kit: And after a few hours tinkering: That’ll do very nicely… Until next time, Tom 33

And yes, it does help to have one or two under the belt… 6 hours ago, kev67 said: How are going to tackle the glazing around the frame I have a new vac canopy too - Peter did it for me at the same time. It goes on first with the framing added directly on top. The print is thin enough to sit above without issue so the perfect solution!
clarkis
That canopy! AWESOME...Do you know if Peter is going to make that canopy available for purchase? I have the ID Models vac also and I NEED THAT CANOPY! Tigerausfb
What an effort, just amazing. I've a real soft spot for the Stirling, living where I do. Such a shame there's not a real one to feast ones eyes on but this model will do Andrew
