Xmald Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 (edited) Hello, So here she is, nothing fancy I know. The most boring scheme ever, I know. The most boring aircraft of the Great War, I KNOW but still wanted to have one... Painted with Tamiya XF7 and artistic oils etc. Edited March 11, 2018 by Xmald 37 1
Smithy Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Absolutely love it! The paintwork looks super realistic and the build looks faultless. And nothing wrong with having MvR's Dr.I, everybody needs a red tripe on the shelf! 4
HOUSTON Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 RESPLENDENT and absolutely STUNNING. She looks MAGNIFICENT and the RED BARON would even like it! Super workmanship. Liking the photos. The black and white photographs look quite authentic. Good Job. 1
Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Great work on your Fokker ... Nothing wrong on wanting to have an iconic aircraft of a Legend in your collection. 1
Reini78 Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 looks good! and as mentioned, belongs in every WW1 collection 1
Les Moore Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Whose kit??? What scale??? Inquiring minds want to know. 1
Smithy Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 I had to bump this thread. It's criminal that a build this good with such an excellent paint job has a meagre 14 likes. 1
pipthepilot Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 Beautiful aircraft, and really nicely completed. 1
FZ6 Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 The red scheme is hard to pull off without it looking toy-like but you've done a great job thanks for sharing. Mark 1
Pauls9cb Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 I'm with Smithy. It's a very accomplished model of one of MvR's famous Tripes. Love 'em but would like to know which kit you used - Eduard 1/48 or smaller? - Paul 1
Xmald Posted March 14, 2018 Author Posted March 14, 2018 Thanks for your kind words gentlemen! I've updated the information on the model - it's Eduard's 1/48 kit. I've used some parts from the profipack release but in general this is. The weekend edition. Some parts are from the spares box and others are built from scratch.
stevehnz Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 That really is quite wonderfully well done, well worth my while to have a peek into 1/48ville for a change. Steve. 1
Jasper dog Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Magnificent, never tried a WW1 kit but seeing this I'm quite tempted. Inspirational. 1
Roberto Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 You are right IMO, one has to have one Red Triplane in his/her collection 1
Radpoe Spitfire Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 This looks amazing, the Dr1 is not a big aircraft at the best of times- let alone in miniature- even in 1/48th scale! But I must agree your finish is superb. I don't model WW1 aircraft very often, but the Dr1 is on my to do list at some time. But your build is a real gem. Thank you for sharing. Frustratingly, the Baron's aircraft's colour scheme has been controversial in that for many years expert argument has raged as to whether it was all red or not- and I still don't even know now, if there is a general consensus of agreement to what is right or not. The two main depictions seem to be either all red or red with part of the fuselage painted in a green wash. So it's really up to the individual to make their own interpretation . Please don't take my comment as a criticism- it isn't - I'm just adding a little trivia which is a trait of mine😏 - and enjoying looking at your finished model.👍 1

Look at it this way: Were the same 'boring' kite to be spotted by any poor BE2c or 'Harry Tate' pilot over the Front...I doubt the reaction would have included yawns of tedium.... (More like the abrupt 'clenching' of certain nether bits; one might hear the 'snap' over the roar of the Le Rhone....) SUPERB re-creation, and a credit to any collection! Thanks for posting it for us to enjoy. 1
Buzby061 Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Absolutely lovely. As has already been said, it’s not easy to make the all red scheme look realistic but you’ve made a cracking job of it. Pete 1
