Fishbed Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Found this link on the military modeling web site. Apologies if old hat. Wonder what the cost will be? http://www.militarymodelling.com/news/article.asp?a=8196 Tim
AnonymousFO98 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Interesting Might cost as much as the Xtrakit + all the resin sets required. Hope it isn't much more than that and I may be tempted. Sweepstake time, I reckon £42.99. Seems an odd choice for Dragon but not complaining.
Pat C Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 You have me to thank for this - I am currently struggling with the High Planes Sea Vixen. Seriously though if its as good as their Meteor that will be BRILLIANT!!!!! As Walrus says, a bizarre choice, but then why did Tamiya choose to tool the 1/72 Skyray which seemed an equally obscure subject? Pricing has to be north of £40 given the Meteor price. Dragon are supposed to be doing a Buccaneer in 1/72. Pat
Duncan B Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 oh happy days! I can sense a flood of Xtrakit/MPM Sea Vixens onto eBay!
Pat C Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) Some clearer pics here. http://www.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=mod...le&sid=9219 I WANT ONE NOW!!!! Anticsonline are advertising it for £26.99 which seems like quite a good price. If it turned out that was a blunder could they increase the price if you had pre-ordered it? EDIT: Well I'll let you know as I've ordered one! Pat Edited June 16, 2011 by Pat C
Giorgio N Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Wow ! If the price stays like that, it's not a bad price for what looks like a very nice kit.
Dads203 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Hope they sort out the pilots seat. It looks from the CAD drawings that it's well below the instrument panel ?
AnonymousAA72 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 £26.99? I'll have a couple!! The Meteor is GORGEOUS (Dear but gorgeous!!) Looking forward to the Buccaneer as well!!!
Robert Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Wow looks very nice. Hobbyeasy gets my order. Robert
Neil Lambess Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 oh happy days!I can sense a flood of Xtrakit/MPM Sea Vixens onto eBay! except....... we need the booms from those xtrakits to build a FAW2 ! (maybe they will fit the dragon kit better ) xtrakit didnt do a FAW 1 , only MPM boo hoo still hard work to get a decent FAW2 from the Dragon kit

(maybe they will fit the dragon kit better ) xtrakit didnt do a FAW 1 , only MPMboo hoo still hard work to get a decent FAW2 from the Dragon kit look on the bright side, you have found a use for the Xttrakit version other than expensive loft insulation!
wadeocu Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Hope they sort out the pilots seat. It looks from the CAD drawings that it's well below the instrument panel ? Indeed that does bring a sense of déjà vu with the Xtrakit offering.
keefr22 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I hope the plastic is better than those CAD drawings appear - that radome doesn't look right.... K
Pat C Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 that radome doesn't look right.... Yup - its missing that double curve effect towards the end isn't it. Still, let us wait for the plastic before we bury in a heap of ordure!!
Vulcanicity Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 If it's around the £26 mark I shall be amazed, and probably buy one. I can't afford it at £40+...
keefr22 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Yup - its missing that double curve effect towards the end isn't it. Still, let us wait for the plastic before we bury in a heap of ordure!! Absolutely. And that's why I'm hoping its just the 'drawings'...!! K
Pat C Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 The position of the pilots seat is actually quite comical - I reckon the navigator would have a better view!!
keefr22 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 The position of the pilots seat is actually quite comical - I reckon the navigator would have a better view!! I have to admit that when I saw how bad the shape of the radome looks in the 'drawings' I didn't bother to look any further. But, looking again, that seat position really is ridiculous....!! K

Pat C Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Thanks for posting. Looks like a booster cushion will be needed after all!
AnonymousAA72 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Hmmm - a bit worried about the poor pilot! The radome shouldn't be too difficult to fix - I'd insert the tip of a needle to get a nice sharp point and fair in with Milliput............just hope that there are no other nasties!!
upnorth Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Interesting. I'll wait until she hits the market and has a couple of reviews penned up about her before parting with the money. One thing that does surprise me is the inclusion of a ram air turbine device in the kit. I would never have expected a detail like that to be included in the box, on the aftermarket maybe, but not OOB.

Been there, done that with the xtrakit thing Bill. I have no intention of paying Dragon's prices to 'enjoy' it all over again!! Keef
