Hello my friends,

as I finished my USMC AV-8B, its time to restart working on the RAF Harrier GR.7/9 kits.

My previous works can be seen at the following topic:

(P.S: I'm asking to the Admin if can move the topic to this forum... thanks!)

Ok, I've wait for a resin Martin Baker Mk.12 bang seat from any good aftermarket... but still none.

So, I'd to make one by myself... here the result:

Mk12_3.jpg

Still needs some minor "fix" but the seat is there.

Awesome work Piero, is this the kit seat you have modified or an aftermarket one. as i am in the same situation as you. Been waiting ages for the correct seat to come out.

Glad to see this one going again Piero!

I had said in another post I had a pic of the pit with the seat removed, I'm

Yet to find it but I'll keep looking, if you still need it?

Great stuff Piero. The PEC on the Mk.12 is located a little further back and on about a 50 degree angle. See here.

Keep up the excellent work. :D

Ouch!!! How can I've missed that?!?!?!

The seat went to be resin casted last saturday... and now?

Hello,

the Aires's resin cockpit tubs are painted and ready to be placed inside the front fuselage sections.

I removed most of the seat rails on the rear bulkhead.

Front instrument panels were painted and fitted with etched parts too... pics will come tomorrow.

Really sorry Piero - I didn't mean to upset your plans!! Your models are generally so perfect that I thought you'd want to know...

(Incidentally, despite your beautiful finishing, there are a few howlers moulded on Aires' cockpit too - drop me a PM if you'd like me to go through them.)

Hello,

thank you for your compliment on the previous works, I'm trying to bring to light most of the bad points of this kit and make available any necessary corrections that I can best make.

I continued working on the models again this weekend, by shifting my attention to the front section of the fuselage of the kit scribing the panel lines.

GR79_57.jpg

GR79_58.jpg

Looking at the profile of the nose cone I noticed that too seems to go up, so I compared the piece with scale drawings taken from SAM volume.

So I decided to cut the nose cone from the front fuselage section, which will help me for further detail works as the ARBS components and the front jet control valve.

Unfortunately, the hump for the FLIR system is too thin, high and curved, so I added a couple of thin layers of plasticard on both sides of the hump.

I also made the openings for the ladder steps on the right side of the front fuselage section.

The Aires’s resin front wheel bay is inserted without major problems.

Wow, that's a very impressive bit of building.

Looking good, very tempted to start my one.

A quick look at the wing pylons has shown that the detail is nothing like the real RAF aircraft, what drawing did they use?

Lovely work Piero.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to highlight these issues for us all.

I would also be very interested in any resin correction sets that you might offer for the GR-7.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers,

:goodjob:
