  9. Got my copy a few weeks ago. I was really pleased to be able to contribute to the magazine with the F-4J (UK)
  10. Hopkp it can be purchased from here or should be in the shops this week https://shop.keypublishing.com/product/View/productCode/SPECF4
  11. Loving this one - something unusual and perfectly weathered
  12. Hi The green tint was Tamiya Clear Green mixed with Klear and then sprayed on - 50-50 mix.
  13. Thank you all for such kind comments (I know some of you have said it is the best on this page - I would disagree as there are some stunning modellers who post on here!) There are some minor changes on the UK variant compared to the US version, mainly in the moveable slats (not produced on the kit anyway) and a few lumps and bumps underneath. The UK variant also had the catapult launcher removed before being handed to the RAF. as for other photos - I will try but I am pretty busy with my day job at the moment so will try and do something soon. Thank you again James
  14. All I am pleased to finally be able to share my latest build, featured in the new AMW Phantom Booklet released this week. The model itself is based on the Tamiya 1/32 scale F-4J, but converted to the UK F-4J UK Variant. The kit used a number of aftermarket parts including Aires Exhaust/Burner Cans, Cockpit, Quickboost Seats, Eduard Brassin Wheels, Wolfpack SUU-23 Cannon, DMold Intakes, and Yellowhammer Decals. The kit itself took around 3 months to build with the vast majority of the works taking place inside before being sealed up. The final colour took a while to get right as well with a zinc chromate primer being used under the correct "flint grey". I hope you like it. 1/32 Scale Tamiya F-4J (UK) Phantom by JamesV9820, on Flickr 1/32 Scale Tamiya F-4J (UK) Phantom by JamesV9820, on Flickr 1/32 Scale Tamiya F-4J (UK) Phantom by JamesV9820, on Flickr 1/32 Scale Tamiya F-4J (UK) Phantom by JamesV9820, on Flickr 1/32 Scale Tamiya F-4J (UK) Phantom by JamesV9820, on Flickr
  15. Steve, You did well. I was on the hill too and struggled a bit with the Lancaster's and Reds. It was certainly great to hear the 10 merlins in the air though! got some real nice shots of the Spitfire as it passed as well as the Dakota too.
  16. Cheers guys - a few more - so many more to process!
  17. A few shots from the last few days at RAF Waddington which is local to me and always is for me a great 4 days event which I spend with my now wife and my friends - a good time is had with jokes, bacon rolls (cooked in the camper van) and most importantly aviation which we all love. We spend the Saturday on the outside, as it is great for photos in the morning; between 11 - 3pm the light really does get bad but we seemed to manage. Friday and Sunday were on the base where it was great to catch up with a few other friends. Here is a few of the 2000 odd I have taken through the weekend so far, no doubt a load will be deleted due to me being fussy! anyway, on with the shots. More as and when if you want?
  18. Superb mate - you are welcome to come use the studio whenever you like - the lights certain work well and bring out so much detail on this kit. It is superb!
  19. I did TAS about 7 years ago now - they certainly do give a good tour. I can understand the weapons being a bit secret squirrel as some are still protected. I was fortunate to get tours around 31 and 9 over the last few years to name a few. The best however was the 2Sq (AC) 100 year anniversary photocall where about 200 of us were let loose around 26 tornados in all fit outs in the HAS complex one beautiful sunny morning!
  20. Julien, When was this? I have been on Marham plenty of times and got photos on both the inside and outside without any problems with the local RAF Police. They are usually quite friendly and will come and have a chat - I just find being polite and listening to what they say goes down well! Of course there are things that you should not take photos of and i always follow this rigidly. I also do not post many of the inside shots online/public domian for various reasons too!
  21. One from RAF Marham F & F days i think! God i'm getting old!
  22. Thank you for the comments guys, Got another few for you as well: Colin, In answer to your question i usually take the following: Poles - I usually do not bother in the summer but if you are unsterady on your feet or it is slippery, they are a life saver, especially on the way down Boots, not trainers, waterproof ones are essential with good grip. Beach shelter - not essentially for me, though when Emma comes up the hill she shelters in it, and the cameras will go in there if it rains. I rarely use one and will stand most the day, keeping my eye peeled on the corner. Water & wind proof gear I wear these even in the summer, it keeps the ticks away for your skin in the summer and keeps the wind out in the winter. Regarding food, i just take the bear essentials. I tend to stay away from fizzy drinks, they are never good for you! just remember always to be with someone as you climb and descend and if you are on your own, make sure someone knows where you are. What camera gear are you intending to take up? Gary, thanks for the comments - I did see Craigs shots but never met him, we were on the hill in front of the Fox2 guys and could see more around the corner giving them the heads up!
  23. Thanks for clearing that up - for some reason I thought they were used on Op Ellamy Just goes to show we learn somethng new everyday
