Nice work Ced, although buying the Freightdog set or ignoring the issue would've need far easier.

Indeed, but I need the drilling practice and it is supposed to be OOB! :D

Thanks Håkan :)

I've decided to leave the cannons and other sticky out bits off until just before I prime.

These bits go together really well with some TET and a squish:

Not so this bit:

Needs some attention, sadly.

All the other bits went on really well and look, wheels up option:

Yay Airfix!

I need to let those bits dry a bit before clean up, then it's on with the sticky out bits and primer!

Hmm, I've just looked in the box of my Airfix 22 & I can't find any plastic rod in there..... :D

Nice result though Ced, very neat bit of work!

You are aware that you make plastic rod by simply warming sprue runner and gently pulling, huh?

Yes Billl, well aware thanks! But I was trying to wind Ced up with his use of plastic rod (not stretched sprue!) in his "OOB" build!

Thanks Chris, Adrian and Simon :)

Thanks Keith - almost OOB then, you caught me! :D

Thanks Bill :) Stretching sprue... still need to try that.

Sticky out bits on:

Unusual mounting for the pitot and aerial - just a 'circle' that goes into the holes on the wing. Good job I didn't leave a lug or they would have stuck out.

Did I have fun getting the cannons aligned with the bulges and the wings? Of course, as always.

I was just about to prime when I realised I haven't masked the canopies.

Half asleep in this lovely weather.

I need some masking mojo now...

I always thought the cannons on the late Spitfire looked like they were drawn on an angry schoolboy.

I think I'd be a bit miffed if someone came & drew Spitfire cannons on me too....!!

Ok, I admit I have only just seen this but I'll be staying on to see how this goes, if you don't mind. This is a really nice little kit. I enjoyed building it so much I went out and got another so I could build the other scheme. You may remember my failed attempt to take advantage of the family being away for the weekend and building it before they came back.

Thanks Dad - my thoughts exactly, one of each is the plan :)

Curses would have ensued Giorgio, that's for sure! I've been down the canopy joins and applied a little Gator's Grip Thin where there may be gaps. I certainly don't want any spray inside! :)

In a cruel kind of way.

Although, most humour is about pain of one sort or another, isn't it?

Ced would know I didn't mean it (much). And anyway I'd only think it was funny having been there, done that....!! :banghead:

Taken as meant Keith and thanks Rob - yes, some humour is about pain; Mrs B cracks up whenever someone falls over (in a comedic way) but subtle humour leaves her cold I'm afraid. :(

We're taking Mother-in-Law to the seaside tomorrow so I doubt I'll get much done until maybe later in the evening.

I say 'seaside' but Weston-Super-Mare is more of a mud side to be honest.

I am promised chips on the pier though so looking forward to it :)

I apologise for the misunderstanding- my comment wasn't meant as a criticism, just an observation. As I've been there and done that too (don't ask) it would've been funny here as well.

You make no mention of bringing her home again Ced. I feel sure that was just an oversight on your part.

We went on a school trip to Weston-Super-Mare in 1973. My main memory of that day is that my nan had made a load of Scotch eggs for my packed lunch which caused me to fart raucously in the coach all the way home.  Happy days.

Them Spits are coming along most handsomely - those improved cannons looking like they pack a real sting. Glad you remembered the canopy masking.

You've probably mentioned it previously but are you going to be painting the roundels and codes?

Lovely work.
