Nice work. My dad was a submariner and this was his last boat.

Despite being a huge Sea Hawk fan I must admit I have two currently languishing on the shelf of shame. I really must get on and finish them. 😳

Spitfire Mk.1a - Airfix 1/72 Scale
dadgaddad replied to Qel's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Nice work, well done. I've built a few of these Spits and I found you get a better fit if you attach the upper wings to the fuselage first. When dry attach the lower section. You may need to clean up a little around the edges but it makes for a much better wing root join. This has never let me down. Well, almost never. Ok, there was one occassion where it didn't work but apart from that . . . -
Spitfire PR Mk.XIX - Airfix 1/48

That's first class work, Baldy. A blue XIX with stripes is very hard to beat. -

No 888 Naval Air Squadron HMS Formidable November 1942 Here's one I finished last year. It's the Airfix Grumman Martlet Mk IV in 1/72 scale. This is a great little kit which I would recommend to anyone interested in FAA subjects. Construction was fairly straightforward although the undercarriage is very fragile and easily broken. Other than that there were no major problems although I lost a painted and decalled wheel to the CM and was clearing a space on the shelf of shame when I found it quite by chance on the floor of the children's bedroom. It was built OOB except for the seat harness which was either Eduard etch from the spares box or made out of masking tape, I can't remember which! It was painted using Humbrol enamels for the Beige Green and EDSG thinned with white spirit while the Dark Slate Grey was Humbrol acrylic thinned with water. Paints were sprayed using a Harder & Steinbeck Evolution and went on very nicely. Here are a few photos for your enjoment. As usual, all comments are welcome.

It was. There is some old and interesting stuff in there and a lot of it is pre-slotta as well. I'll be posting some photos of them in the near future.

Thanks, I'll see what I can do though it might take a couple of days.

Here's something a bit different for me. Back in the mid-80s when I was very much into Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons and fantasy figures I saw this in a shop in Bath and had to have it. I tried painting it and it didn't turn out well so it was never actually finished. Years went by and interests changed so this plus several other figures were put away and forgotten about. Recently they resurfaced in a box at the back of a cupboard in my mother's house so I have started repainting some of them starting with this one. I stripped it back to bare metal and primed it with Halford's primer and sprayed a base layer of Citadel Scar White. The rest was done with a set of Vallejo Game Colour which bought specially for this project. The base is a piece of plastic covered with Vallejo Plastic Putty and Javis grass. This is what it looked like when I found it.

There's a fix? 😳 I should have been told! 😁

Hello fellow BMers I have to confess since the Photobucket photo cull I have hardly been back to BM. Don't ask me why because I couldn't tell you but rest assured it has nothing to do with any of you fine people. Anyway, I have not been idle (much) in that time and I have a few builds to share and so I have opened a new Flickr account and uploaded a few photos. Now I've worked out how to post them look out for a new post or two coming up. Cheers all, it's good to be back!
