I will take it please Cliff, I think I'm going to hold out on the Thai Mil-17... I'm in to much pain with my back to be sat down for to long, so I'm thinking a nice easy build where I can just build OOB + decals. I will keep Thailand for a bit though and see how I get on.. I should have a new type of tablet soon which may help me feel less drowsy. :)

I will edit my post shortly..

I hope your back soon gets sorted Radleigh.

Just to let you know I am still in for this with the Hobbyboss 1/72 Hind in Afghan colours. The movers are booked for 23 Jan, the Bolton show is 25 Jan and I should be free to make a start after that. Right now there's still stuff to do at the new house and there's packing to be done. Life be darned - I want to get back to modelling!

I'm struggling a little with my current entry as the kit isn't quite correct for the subject! I have a back up plan, which I might do anyway, but in the mean time would the United Arab Republic Airforce qualify as a seperate airforce? If so can I dibs that please??

Hi Phil,

I was really hoping that once the GB got under way, all these difficult questions would start to dry up. How wrong I was! ;)

This is quite a difficult one to call. I'll liase with Col. and get back to you asap.

Cliff

Hi, now I have the Bf 110 GB finished I would like to join. Can I take Libya please? I have an ICM Mig-25PD that seems to fit nicely.

Cheers

This is much simpler. I'll sign you up for Libya ForestFan

Cheers

Hi Phil

Col and I have had a chat and unfortunately for us the United Arab Republic Air Force is a 'no go'.

Basically, we feel that it is really Egypt under another name (for 10 of its 13 years it was merely the name used by the Egyptian Air Force). Sorry.

Hopefully your back-up plan comes good.

Cheers

This will be my first ever group build, so here's hoping I get it right! I've become a bit obsessed with small air forces recently so when I saw this I knew it would be the perfect first GB for me. I had originally intended to do a Fouga Magister CM.170 but the only operator that wasn't already taken was Togo, and that wasn't my favorite (although I did order the Max Scale Fouga Magister decal sheet which includes Togo - I have to laugh that I spent €14 buying a sheet of decals from Ireland and the model cost me $3.75!) ...

So ... I have decided to do an Ilyushin Il-28 in Somali Air Force markings!

I hope I've done this right. I re-read the rules and the reservation list multiple times to avoid looking like a silly sod!

Link to "Military Aircraft Insignia of the World". I discovered this when doing research on Somali Air Force markings. The book seems mostly "free to view" via Google but I did notice a few pages missing. I have since ordered the hardcopy off Amazon (was like $6 shipped from the UK), but I would not have known where to start on Somali markings without this!

Hope it helps. :)

Cheers, Cliff! The "Beagle" (not to be confused with HMS Beagle :P) should arrive by Friday but I want to see if I can get a Bf-110E knocked out by 1 February to cover that GB as well. I'm excited! :yahoo:

Niiiiice, I am wanting to do a Biafran aircraft eventually but Katanga will be next on that list. For those unaware - Katanga was a province of Belgian Congo that seceded after independence and wanted to retain good relations, and European specialists, with Belgium. A large number of white mercenaries fought for them during this short period of independence, and they flew some interesting aircraft (like the Fouga Magister CM.170). And for some odd reason the UN and the US got particularly heavily involved and bombed them back into Congo. The rest, as they say, is history!

I'm pretty rusty, and I won't wear it in my sig until I've actually done the build, but I may have to try my hand at Photoshop after a decade and see if I can knock myself up a GB banner. I like the VPAF banner, too!

Some interesting banners coming through gang. Although they are specific to a single nation I'm sure they will arouse interest in the overall GB if added to your signatures. I, alas, am useless at such things so can't help the cause there :(
