NickParker Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 That really is quite superb, I love what you've done with the heat shield/nozzle area, its the area that's bothering me on my trumpeter build, its so distinctive on the flankers, you've captured it perfectly. Nick
Smiffy Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 That looks Sh*t hot. Prey tell, what witchcraft was involved in achieving such a finish?.
general melchett Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Great stuff john...now all it needs is an attack of the Brillo pad to give it that unique Russian finish 'hint of Soviet weather'.................reckon they must use Homebase matt emulsion on the things!!
Skii Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 cheers chaps That looks Sh*t hot. Prey tell, what witchcraft was involved in achieving such a finish?. Cheers fella Very easy to do actually - just a thin spray of very thinned Tamiya flat black, then scrubbed with a micromesh cloth to get the scorched effect
Daywalker Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 This is some very impressive work! A friend sent me the link to this build, and I am very glad he did. Excellent tip on the Tamiya flat black polished back on the metal areas, brilliant stuff!
sweaty Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Cracking stuff as always, and thanks for sharing another fantastic tip. I don't mean to be a pain, and i'm no master (very far from it) but i think i've found a small fault on the left exhaust thingy. If i've put my foot in my mouth again you can have a free slap, to my face at SWM 10 And as you can tell i've been playing with photoscape Again i can only dream of getting my builds to look anything this good , but i thought just in case you missed it All the best Jamie

David W Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 She looks stunning John, i'm in absolute awe of that paint job, a real work of art! David
Smiffy Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Very easy to do actually - just a thin spray of very thinned Tamiya flat black, then scrubbed with a micromesh cloth to get the scorched effect Wow. There I was expecting a detailed, lengthy reply on some new, labour intensive technique. Simple, but very, very effective.
sig226 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I'm in awe of your work m8,... I'm just beginning to get the hang of airbrushing / masking after being away from modelling for 10+ yrs and having just sprayed the white & grey scheme on an Italeri Su-24 it gives me a true appreciation of your skill displayed with your model. Regards Simon
HOUSTON Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 WOW!! John, the Flankers colors are just EXQUISITE... Lovely work Sir.... She is HELLUVA BEAUTY.... Houston

Skii Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 Thanks again all Alberto - chipping was done with a fine detail brush and Citadel Mithril silver John
PHIL B Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Great work John. Having seen your B-2A at Southern Expo and realised it was even better in the "flesh", I can only say your Flanker is similarly mind-blowing. He's a really nice bloke too folks. Phil.
