  1. Guys Its the end of the road. I'd been storing the model on a shelf next to some curtains, and my wife accidentally caught the model on the curtains yesterday morning. Looks like the model took a 6 foot tumble hitting the bedside table on its way down to the floor. wrecked. The model is completely beyond repair and 18 months of work have amounted to nothing, I don't blame my wife, it was an accident and she is mortified , I'm at a point now where I don't want to continue the hobby, so this afternoon I've packed everything model related away as I don't have the time, space or motivation for the hobby any longer. Thankyou to everyone who helped me along with the project along with the encouraging comments - I'm truly sorry it has come to nothing. Take care all. John
  2. That, Paul, is ruddy gorgeous. Stunning.
  3. Very nice. Must build one of these one day because they turn out beautifully!

  5. Hi Bill Can you not just mask the ring to the right depth and spray the fuselage aluminium to hide the last mm ? Beautiful job btw - and yes I'd wash it John

  9. This project fell by the wayside many moons ago, not sure if any of it helps.. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...hunder&st=0
  10. Welcome to BM Skuki, I very much enjoy watching your work. Brilliant stuff so far on the P-51, very impressive.
  11. White Waltham is 1 junction up the M4 from me so I've been a few times, and that CJ6 is a very familiar sight. Nice pics, very frosty indeed... brrrrr!!
  12. Thanks chaps Hi Al Its very straightforward - make a tiny dot of oil paint with a fine brush, then take a larger thinner soaked brush and blend the oil paint into the surface, best done over a matt surface. I used grey and burned umber oils. A good visual demonstration here.. http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/messa...athering-fading
  13. You have some skills there Raleigh, really lovely work. The photography is top notch too.
  14. You're very kind Al, but I have to agree, not to detract from the modellers's skill one of my pet hates is the 'every possible panel open' model style, often with live ordnance hanging from wings and on one example I saw a pilot climbing down from the cockpit!. Still, I guess the judges like that type of thing...
  15. final few shots for now - as you can see I've made a start on the weathering. I'm using the oil-dot method with Mig Abteilung 502 oils, the added bonus of Mig oils is the odourless thinner which is a godsend with a wife and 12 week old son around This method works best over a matt base coat hence the weathering before decals, but I'm quite pleased with the results so far. Those of you more familiar with this helicopter will note that there are lumps and bumps still missing such as nav lights and HIDAS sensors - all to come shortly
  16. Thanks guys Mr Parkes, those decals look delicious, can't wait to get them John
  17. Tail wheel on, much of the detailing on the radar mast done bar the wiring. Now waiting on some more decals by the very excellent Paul Parkes
