pigsty Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 (edited) Here at long last is my CF-101B. It's the Monogram 1/48 kit with Belcher Bits decals but otherwise just about all out of the box, apart from the panel lines, which I rescribed. Paint is Xtracolor Voodoo Grey with everything else in Humbrol except the matt black, which is Citadel, and all done with a brush as usual. I confined the weathering to chalk pastels as drawing in the panel lines made them too stark. The pitot is typically coarse, and skew-whiff withal, so it will soon be replaced by one from Master that I picked up at Hornchurch. But officially she's done. Thank you, as ever, to everyone here and on ARC who helped out, especially Giorgio N, who went beyond the call of duty for me. Sorry about the poor focus - she's not called the Long Bird for nothing. Sorry also that the detail is a bit washed out. My photography ent up to much. This was another marathon build, this time only partly because of my incompetence. I'll post a separate thread as a crib sheet (in Cold War, here) in case anyone else is daft enough to want to follow in my footsteps. Edited March 26, 2012 by pigsty
Giorgio N Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Glad to see this completed, even with all the build troubles the final result is a very good looking model !
F-32 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I've always loved the Voodoo, and that one looks spot on
Plasticbutcher Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I haven't seen a Voodoo built up for years, she looks really great, good build sir...
Julien Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Very nice, another old monogram kit which builds up to a good looking model. Julien
Mike DeTorrice Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 A brilliantly-done build of this spectacular interceptor. Very nice ! Mike
Paul J Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Thats rather handsome Sean. Has inspired me to dig out my 1/72 Revell 'scale downs' and add them to the one already done. And, as yours, using Belcher decals.
BrandX Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 That is a formidable Doo, Sir! Bracing myself to tackle 'Hawk One', hopefully before I get too decrepit...
AnonymousDFB1 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Saw her 'in the flesh' at Southern Expo, she's a beaut Sean.
Arkady72 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I have not seen too many ready Voodoo's, this one is beautifull.
Scooby Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Nice build, good choice on markings and unit. But I am biased, I am a former 416 Lynx. These are the first jets I worked on. Ironically I finished my career in 416 Sqdn working on the Hornet.

Scooby Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Oh no! Go on then ... what have I missed? 416 is the Lynx Squadron, that is the squadron you modeled.
pigsty Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 416 is the Lynx Squadron, that is the squadron you modeled. No, I mean, what errors are on the model!
Vulcanicity Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Well even if there are any, I can't see 'em! Superb build of one of my favourite American aircraft.
Ale85 Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Lovely Voodoo!!! It was an hard work rescribing the panels??? ciao Ale
BlackBart Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 (edited) That's a beautiful Voodoo, they looked lovely in Canadian colours. Almost inspired to do the one I have with the C&H F-101C conversion but I'm not sure if I'm up to the re-scribe. Edited April 8, 2012 by BlackBart
