Tamiya Hanomag in France ( without the Krupp )

So...... time for a much needed Tamiya build. After the Bordermodel Stug i want to start a new diorama with some Tamiya builds and some leftover bots and pieces from other kits.

i think these 2 models will make an excellent scene. I still have some resin figures in the stash but i also ordered some new ones:

I'm thinking France early 1940 or Operation Barbarossa.

The kits itself look really good for their age. The krupp got new molds in 2003 i think and there is an excellent driver figure in there.

Anyhow, i think these models are just what i need, simple oob, tamiya fit.

So let's crack on shall we?

Cheers guys 🍻🍻🍻

And the 3,7 pak is done 😁

A fun little build. I flattened the weels a bit to give them a more realistic look.

I need to work on some ejector pinmarks in tough places but overall it was fun.

We'll see just how OOB this turns out to be!

Interesting project I'll grab a beer and take a seat and watch you work your magic!

Hi Maddoxx,

Next stop!....although Tamiya (walk through the countryside...lol), a couple, not one kit per session, and also one of two pieces, and with figures...who said fear...lol
Very good choice of vehicles for a diorama, they will give a lot of play, and with all those figures swarming around...
By the way, the photos of the figures are from the seller's website or yours, why do you already have them in a stash?

An observation, since you have not decided whether it will be in Europe or in the Desert, you should see which figures you have and are most suitable for each theater of operations, since their clothing and equipment may not match the theater you finally choose.
They look tremendous!

Cheers

Francis.👍

Blimey!  I can't keep up .... but a good choice to settle back to.

Better get comfy and a fresh brew in time for another masterclass!

I wouldn't bother Keith. It'll be finished by the time that you do.

Figures look excellent Maddoxx. This should be interesting, so I'll follow along.

Figures are from Stalingrad.

@FrancisGL i've decided to do a operation Barbarossa dio so it will be spring in Russia. I think the clothing is appropriate for the setting. Regular wehrmacht troops with early war uniforms.

On the 'getting a fresh brew' situation: uhm..... the builds are pretty simple but that gives me more time to go all out with painting and weathering. So if i where you, just get that fresh bottle of golden elixer and get comfy 😉

On the topic of simple builds:

The Krupp is done. I had a day off so lot's of time.

I won't be using the figure. Old Tamiya figure mold so poor detail.

The whole build consists of several sub assemblies.

1000018294.jpg

Everything is ready for primer. But first i'll start with the Hanomag halftrack.

Dammit!  I haven't even put the kettle on and there it is .... done! 🤣

On a serious note, the figures look like they'll work really well, and the build is great. 👌

You have to drink fast boys.... the halftrack is done 🤣

Ofcourse all is dryfitted.

So now i have this lot of sub assemblies on the workbench.

Tomorow it's primer time.

You'll have these done by the weekend!

Keith 😁

Yes the buildingstage is fast. Now it's time for primer, painting and weathering. That will take a whole lot more time. And then there are the figures. And i have to decide on the dio. And i have to make the dio......This might look like a fast build but trust me, you can have alot of cuppa's before this one is finished 😉

( altough a faster boiling kettle isn't luxury... just get on mate 🤣 )

@FrancisGL i forgot to answer your question about the figures. What i mentioned in the first post about the figures is that i have some resin figures in my stash but i also ordered the figures from Stalingrad. I had a look at the figures in my stash but they are all late war so not sutable for the dio i have in mind.

The photo's of the figures i posted are from Stalingrad and they will be delivered around 10th of november.

It is pretty difficult to get good figures delivered in the Netherlands so i had to order them via a belgian website.

Well I'm put to shame, you've built two models in the time it takes me to decide what I should be doing!!!!

Looking forward to watching this progress.

No doubt the pace will slow a bit now and I'm guessing the figures will take a while to get how you want them ..... so I can relax with my brew! 🤣

Are you planning a simple dio or something a bit more involved?

Keith 😁

Hi Maddoxx,

It was to be expected, after the Stug, this is an appetizer for you, 😁

I see that everything is in its place to start giving it life.
I would love to be as fast in construction as you, because my favorite part is the painting and especially the weathering.

Cheers

I'm not shure yet. Once i have the models done i can play around with position and the scene overall.

I'm leaning towards a short break behind the lines sort of scene.

I thought the interior was a bit boring. So i took a bit of plasticard, searched some reference photo's, got me some old spare decals and i went to town.....

It adds a bit more life to the interior. I still have to add stowage and tarps.

Me like this 😁😁😁! Nothing beats an old, simple Tamiya kit.

  • Maddoxx77 changed the title to Tamiya Krupp and Hanomag in Russia

Last update for today.

The exterior of the hanomag has got some paint on it. I worked with black primer. After that was dry i started out with german panzer grey and went over the model each coat a bit lighter. I then mottled some highlights and this is the result so far.

1000018333.jpg

I tried to go for the faded grey look.

I also postshaded some spots to add depth. It will get toned down a bit with washes.

1000018332.jpg

1000018334.jpg

1000018335.jpg

So next up are a coat of semi gloss and then decals.

What a joy to build this kit. I got in a flow today and everything worked like i wanted.

So far i'm a happy modeler.

Cheers boys! 🍻🍻🍻
