Great model. I did the Bordermodel version last year. Great model, poor tracks. I'll tag along to see what you make of this one. Should be briljant as always. -

It has been a while my friends. Been busy with work however, today i finally could find some time to work on the model. The initial painting and weathering stage is done. The final weathering will be done once the diorama base is done. I also started with the figures. The 222 came out like i wanted; a gritty, battleworn vehicle. When the dio is done i can do the final weathering with dust and sand. -

So..... i got some work done. I completed the buildstage. I sealen all the doors and hatches with bluetack and then it was time for black primer and a base layer of german panzer grey. I added highlights ( wich was completly nonsense because this was just the base layer ) and then i decided the model needed a bit more bits and bobs. I created an extra stowage bin from plasticard and leftover PE And i made some tarps ( yess there it is.... the making of tarps ) So we are looking at this Then it was time to take it all of and spray the whole kit with chipping fluid followed by my own DAK mix. Then i went to town with water and a stiff brush. I placed the decals. Painted the Africa corps logo ( i did not have decals ) and sprayed the whole thing with semi gloss. Next up. Painting stowage and start working with oils and enamels. -

Thanks Darryl! They used specialy designed tractors to move the gun in seperate subb assemblies. I think there is a photo in my buildlog.

Well then, let's sattisfy that paint itch..... I started with painting the interior tonight. I used matt white with a few drops of new wood to get a crème white basecolor. 2 layers over a layer of black primer. I did some sponge chipping with blackbrown with a drop of hull red. Then i went on and did all the detail painting on the lower half of the interior. The drivers seat was done with black brown and then Orange brown for highlights to get that worn leather look. I used some gun metal pigments over a dark grey base on the mp40 and the mess tin's. After that i used an enamel interior streaking grime to get that dirty battle worn look. A few streaks with enamel light rust wash and the lower half of the interior is done. I pushed the contrast a bit furter then normal. When the top half is installed the interior will be only visible trough the open doors and the engine hatches. So i wanted to add some interest. Maybe tomorow some minor touch ups here and there but then it's time for the upper part. -

Last night i finished the first part of the building process. The weapon system was built and i finished the fenders. Now i have to paint the interior and the chassis first. I have to say that the construction of the main gun was a bit flimsy at times. The parts are very thin and the overall fit lacked a bit of finesse. Still have to bend the PE parts for the top of the turret but other then that i'm first going to work with the airbrush. -

Thank you very much. It really is a detailed kit. And a joy to build. Hahahaha almost 🤪🤪 In fact this eastermorning i got a bit more work done. A few subassemblies like 2 of the fenders and some PE work. I also made a strap for the jerrycan on the fender. Looks a bit better now. And yes the little box on the right is made of 6 PE parts and it has the size of a fingernail 🤣 -

Been working a bit on the interior today. Still no issues to be found. The fit is excellent. If i have to complain about something then the ejector pin marks need filling although the interior will be barely visible in the complete build. It's just that i know it's there so i want to fix that before painting. The PE that comes with the kit works really well, it's sturdy with very good bend cuts. The parts really add a bit of realism in terms of proportions. -

Part count is around 350 including photo etch. Altough the build is tiny and complex untill now it builds like a dream. The parts are clean and crisp with sharp details. The fit of the parts is extremly good ( almost Tamiya fit ) This is my second Hobbyboss kit and i really enjoy their kits. Today i had the day off so i started with the build. Untill now i haven't found any flaws or problems to point out in a buildlog. Just have a good look at the building plan and you are good to go. I managed to completly build the chassis. I dryfitted the weels ( rubber tires ) to check the fit and the angels. The engine and radiator were tiny but easy subassemblies. I used the lower hull to check if the chassis was build straight and low and behold.... we got ourselfs a dune buggy 🤣 The kit comes with a full interior so tomorow i'll start working on that. For now i'm shutting off the lights Cheers guys!!! Btw thanks for tagging along @Keeff @Milan Mynar and @echen Always a pleasure having you guys around 🙏🙏🙏 -
Time for a new project. The Sd.Kfz.222 I want to do a DAK diorama so i ordered some figures from Warfront to go along with the scoutcar. The part count on this build is quite high for such a small vehicle. There is also some PE involved. First look is great. Clean sprues, crisp detail, very little flash. I will add extra stowage so there will be scratchbuilding and the making of tarps 😁 Feel free to tag along, grab a beer or 2 and enjoy the ride. I'll keep you guys posted. Cheers!

Been working on an old ICM Studebaker truck. I did this to learn some new skills regarding building weeled vehicles. The kit came from an old stash and it wasn't the best. The plastic had completly dried out so i broke very fast. However, i managed to pull of a decent vignette of a russian driver taking a break. Enjoy and all comments are more then welcome.

And now...for something completly different *finished*
Maddoxx77 replied to Maddoxx77's topic in Work in Progress - Armour
I've been quiet for some time now. Been busy with rl stuff and could not find much mojo to finish the build. However, in the last couple of days i got exited for a new project..... So i had to finish this diorama to keep my rule of "one build at a time" in tact. Secretly i did some practice building for my new project so technically i broke my rule already 😀 Anyway, thank you all for tagging along. This build wasn't complex in any way and to be honest, it was a bit boring. I'll make a topic in the RFI section. On to the next one..... Cheers!
