Ronnie Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I wonder how many kits members tend to hold in stock? I have 180 (the wife thinks too many) but I'm sure that can be well beaten. Interesting to see who holds the record........................................
Test Graham Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I have over 600. There are claims of well over a thousand. As you can imagine, this subject crops up fairly often. Not all Cold War....or is that what you particularly intended?
Ronnie Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) No, not all Cold War but mainly 1950's to date with some WW2 inherited from my son, and a few airliners thrown in for good measure. 600 is really impressive - on average how many do you complete in a year? spitfire Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I sold half of mine but still have 200+ Cheers Den
jenko Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Well over 300......but it's the comments SWMBO makes when you buy another one ....... usually in the shop. Something along the lines of " you have more stock than the shop, why do you need more??" If you make remarks about the amount of new cloths she's bought and not worn as a come back it can get messy.....trust me! Back to the plot....34 built spitfires (1/48), with another 27 quivering in their boxes. Dick
chris57 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 1500 and rising, but i was really good and moved two on at Milton Keynes yesterday hth chris
Siggi Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Somewhere between 20 and 30, a few with work already started (a 1/24th Fw190 and a 1/25th Tiger are two of them, started many years ago). I'm a light-weight.
pigsty Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 OK, I'll bite ... Well over 300......but it's the comments SWMBO makes when you buy another one ....... usually in the shop. Something along the lines of " you have more stock than the shop, why do you need more??" More and better, as a rule, though my local model shop still beats me hands-down on quality. 208 as of Saturday morning, with a build rate of seven in three years, so I'm looking forward to living til I'm 110. Only one Spitfire, though, and even that's a Seafire.
kev67 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I have about 12 and thats where its going to stay, made the mistake of hoarding models when I was young, but have become stronger willed and say to myself "Build what you have and save the money" as I know those 12 models will take me a long time anyway.
Hypnobear Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I have about 12 and thats where its going to stay, made the mistake of hoarding models when I was young, Oh dear.... thats what I've done......
The wooksta V2.0 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Somewhere around the 1000+ mark for a stash that's in two separate locations.
-james- Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I have none! I dont have the money to just keep buying them , but there are times when ive got nothing else to do and really wish I had a model to make, hmmm,, may got to the lhs lol
Ronnie Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 Wow - I'm impressed !! Now I've got an answer for the wife over kit numbers. Don't think I'll be able make them all though. At six builds a year I'll be 95 when I finish, assuming I don't buy any more. And that's not likely..............................

Ronnie Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 At least we have the satisfaction of having bought kits when they were cheap. I have some that cost 99p

Cheers Neil
Ronnie Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 Neil, I guess from your name you're a Phantom Phanatic like me, shame all the real ones (FG1 & FGR2) have long gone - but they live on in the model store. seven built so far, one on the go at the moment, sixteen still to go.
F111Fan Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I have around 20 in storage and a ridiculous 13 on the go-I REALLY need to do some painting when i get my airbrush!

I'm impressed - I did six once at one time, three jets and three helos all raspberry ripple, needed counselling at the end Edited February 8, 2010 by Ronnie
spitfire23bc Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 About 20 in the stash, 3 on the go currently (although one of those is only pretending - still waiting for a very elusive PE set). Dan
XL929 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Probably between 100-120 in the stash but I try and keep work in progress to one or maybe two. Must admit that some evenings instead of actually doing some model making I can happily spend ages looking through boxes at the sprues, decals and instructions.....is that weird?!?
gishuk Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 i have about 15 or so i think. trying to keep something near a one in one out policy which is generally working
