  1. I have a new video added to my channel on the Hendon Air Museum here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfoObFQa_iw&t=18s The videos are designed as a general showcase of what the museums hold, but I'd like to hear what you think of them! Also figured out for the first time in years how to upload a photo so I can display these lovely cover images I'm making for my videos 😄 Videos on the Midland Air Museum and Duxford are coming up soon! 😎 Cheers
  2. Hi All Some of you may remember me as I used to be quite active years ago on the Britmodeller Forums having a go at the groupbuilds or looking in amazement at the standard of work that modellers can come up with here I've been pretty busy with things and apparently haven't posted since 2017 when I did a Junkers JU 88 build in 1/32nd scale, but I have still continued the hobby and have filled up all available shelf and cabinet spaces with model aircraft and tanks! One thing I wanted to share is a new YouTube series I am starting that I thought some people here would be interested in. I've really found a love for travel and photography, so decided to start up my own travel video series. As well as historical places, I'll also be touring air museums as well and hope to add a good number of these to come. I've been to Hendon lately and am planning to visit my hometown's Norwich Air Museum when the weather improves 😎 Here's my first one which looks at the Malta Air Museum which I was able to visit in September 2020: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niAHAd6IaAM Hope this is of interest to some Britmodellers as a kind of Air Museum Walkaround! 🙂 And as soon as international travel is more convenient again, I'll be hoping to add a load more to my channel... Thanks
  3. I never had anything back from Revell at all, and as I'm not as patient as I should be being a modeller, I decided to improvise instead I've just realised that I never did post photos of my finished Junkers JU 88 A-1, but I've been very busy lately with work and a holiday to Budapest (with an excursion to Budapest Aeropark included ) Here it is finished. The model is now hanging from my ceiling banking over the computer desk! I hope you enjoy taking a look at the photos - strangely the greens appear completely differently in these photos (might have been due to the time they were taken maybe?) Not bad for a model that cost me £5...
  4. Time for an update for this one The Anton Junkers has been to the paint shop and received it's upper splinter tone camouflage, and is now looking very green! The upper side camouflage has been brush painted using Humbrol 86 for the lighter shade and Humbrol 75 for the darker, which are my preferred colours for standard Luftwaffe splinter tone schemes The plastic cover I placed behind the cockpit to cover the missing part seems to have blended in nicely with the rest of the model once painted, so I've got away with that Just decals left to go now and this monster is done!
  5. Well, no reply from Revell unfortunately about the missing part for the Junkers, so time for Plan B - make the part out of an ice cream container lid! I've cut a part and crudely fitted it the best I could from a plastic lid - it's not the best outcome, but at least it should mean the bomber will make a resurrection to the finishing line Here's a few photos of the makeshift part placed over the gap on the fuselage I had to fix. Also had some time to paint the undersides Humbrol 65. Next up is some lovely work on the two tone splinter camouflage - more coming later...
  6. Excellent work! As has been said, that is an unusual but effective way to display a JU 88
  7. A great selection of models there, I particularly like the Manchester diorama, and that scheme for the Canberra looks very nice
  8. Excellent work as always, and some very unusual schemes again such as the natural metal RAF B 17 - haven't seen one like that before
  9. A lovely collection of excellently finished models with some very different and unusual schemes, but where do you put all these models??
  10. I'm interested to see the old Revell 1/72nd Seven Years War figures re-released again, they haven't been around for a long time. Enjoyed painting them many years ago
  11. Hello all and a Happy New Year! It's that time of year again and I always enjoy putting up a Yearbook of my latest models (though not so much Photobucket being terribly slow and crashing multiple times). Despite having a fairly busy year including moving to a new full time 9-5 office job since May, I have still found time to do plenty of models as usual That's what weekends are truly for! I've had three main themes running this year mostly; WW2 Luftwaffe, Cold War Soviet and WW2 and Post War RAF, but there's the odd other thing in there too. Now, my lists are saying I've completed a stupidly huge 124 models this year, but as I have to sell most of them to make space for more, here's a photogenic list of what's left starting from January... January Italeri / Zvezda 1/72nd Mikoyan MiG 23ML Flogger Iraqi Air Force February Italeri 1/72nd Caproni Ca 313 Italian Air Force Revell 1/72nd Junkers JU 87 B-2 Stuka Luftwaffe March Hobbycraft 1/48th Dornier DO 17Z Luftwaffe April Revell 1/72nd Junkers JU 87 B-2 Stuka Luftwaffe Italeri 1/72nd Savoia Marchetti SM 82 Canguro Italian Air Force May Italeri 1/72nd SAAB JAS 39A Gripens - bottom Swedish Air Force and top Hungarian with HAD decals June Monogram 1/72nd Dornier DO 17Z Luftwaffe Italeri 1/72nd Dornier DO 217 K-2 with Fritz X Missiles Luftwaffe Italeri 1/72nd Junkers JU 188 Luftwaffe Revell 1/72nd Focke Wulf FW 200 C-3 Luftwaffe with Fritz X Missiles July Revell 1/72nd Junkers JU 88 A-4 Luftwaffe PM Model 1/72nd Sukhoi SU 21G Flagon Soviet Air Force KP 1/72nd Sukhoi SU 7 BKL Fitter and Mastercraft 1/72nd Sukhoi SU 22 M3 Fitter Soviet Air Force Academy 1/72nd Mikoyan MiG 21 F-13 and KP 1/72nd Mikoyan MiG 21 MF Fishbed Soviet Air Force Trumpeter 1/72nd Ilyushin IL 28 Beagle Russian Air Force AMT 1/72nd McDonnell Douglas F 15E Strike Eagle Israeli Air Force August Revell 1/32nd Messerschmitt BF 110 G-4 Nightfighter Luftwaffe Hobbyboss 1/72nd Messerschmitt BF 110 C-3 Zestorer Luftwaffe #1 Hobbyboss 1/72nd Messerschmitt BF 110 C-3 Zestorer Luftwaffe #2 Hobbyboss 1/72nd Messerschmitt BF 110 C-3 Zestorer Luftwaffe #3 Airfix 1/72nd Hawker Hurricane Mk I RAF FROG 1/72nd Bristol Blenheim Mk I RAF September Supermodel 1/72nd CANT CDRA 1007/bis Italian Air Force Airfix 1/72nd SEPECAT Jaguar GR 1 and Italeri 1/72nd SEPECAT Jaguar T 2 RAF Airfix 1/72nd BAe Sea Harrier FRS 1 and Airfix (old tool) 1/72nd Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR 3 RAF Revell 1/32nd Hawker Hunter FGA9 RAF Matchbox 1/72nd Panavia Tornado F 3 RAF October Italeri 1/72nd McDonnell Douglas F 4 Phantom (masquerading as an RAF 64 / 228 Sqdn Aircraft) Italeri 1/72nd McDonnell Douglas F 4 Phantom (masquerading as an RAF 19 Sqdn Aircraft) Italeri 1/72nd Panavia Tornado GR 1 RAF Zvezda 1/72nd Sukhoi SU 24M Fencer Soviet Air Force Zvezda 1/72nd Sukhoi T 50 PAK-FA Russian Air Force November Heller 1/72nd Dassault Mirage 2000N Armee De L'Air Revell 1/72nd McDonnell Douglas RF 4E Phantom "Tigermeet" Luftwaffe Revell 1/72nd Blohm Und Voss BV 222 Wiking Luftwaffe Revell 1/72nd Heinkel HE 111 H-3 Luftwaffe December Heller 1/72nd Potez 631 Armee De L'Air Airfix 1/48th Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb RAF Airfix 1/48th Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb RAF Revell 1/48th Supermarine Spitfire Mk XV Royal Navy Hasegawa 1/72nd IAI Kfir C2 and Airfix 1/72nd Dassault Mirage III Israeli Air Force ...and that concludes my output for another year on the production line, see you again this time next year! All the best for 2017!
  12. Looks like you've just taken a photo of the real thing and said you built it! Really great work, all the weathering on each model looks spot on
  13. Excellent diorama, always nice to see WW2 German things! The inclusion of an aircraft flying overhead is a nice touch - could be an interesting idea to do a series of dioramas with different nationalities' tanks and their aircraft flying above
  14. That's an amazing looking model, great work! Can't beat a nicely built Luftwaffe plane
  15. Glad to hear that at last we have a British Phantom on the Airfix list in the proper scale for modelling! Even though I try to stick to 1/72nd, a 1/48th one would sound nice if Airfix were such inclined...
  16. Thanks, I don't think I've properly planned that far ahead, but would be nice to have it hung from my ceiling once it's done Here's the Junkers now fully built minus the odd few pieces and that bit that's annoyingly missing. The other significant part which was missing was one half of the left aileron, but I managed to fashion something to fit from a spare FROG 1/72nd Tupolev SB-2's wing to go in it's place. Might not be a perfect replacement, but sometimes you've just got to work with what you've got And lastly, a size comparison between a 1/32nd Junkers JU 88 and a 1/72nd Blohm Und Voss BV 222 - told you that flying boat was a monster!
  17. Nice unusual flying boat there, great work! Looks better than a Walrus - just saying...
  18. It is a great kit to build, and it assembles really quickly once the cockpit is all together. I've still got one more of these 1/32nd JU 88's left and two of the Heinkel HE 111 P's in the stash! As an update, the Junkers is fully assembled now apart from the liable-to-snapping-off-easily parts I would add on later and the missing part behind the canopy. I've sent Revell an e-mail about trying to get a spare part sent, so this Ju 88 might be taking a short hibernation for a while to see if anything turns up, but it will be back Will take some photos tomorrow of the model in it's mostly-constructed state
  19. Thanks for the comments Nice to build something big, but not sure if I'll be saying the same thing once I start painting the camouflage... I think I will try contacting Revell for the spare part, I wasn't sure if they would only replace parts that were actually missing from a newly bought kit, not one like this that was already second-hand. Won't know until I try though, so I'll give it a go I'm actually building this along with Revell's 1/72nd BV 222, so even though this is a good sized model, it's still smaller than that beast of a flying boat!
  20. The Junkers has been to the paint shop over the weekend, and has come out with the interiors all painted and ready for the next stage of construction. I used Humbrol and Revell paints brush painted for all the interiors. Not sure what the correct grey should be for the cockpits of Luftwaffe aircraft or it's closest Humbrol equivalent, but I went for Hu 156 for the basic colour and the seats in Hu 53, then added black on the instrumentation. All the dials, seatbelts and other details were painted carefully on afterwards. I went for Revell 40 for the wheel wells which is like Humbrol's Hu 91 Black-Green - I think I've seen undercarriage bays on German planes as dark green, so dark green it is for this one Certainly does look nice when all put together!
  21. Great work and an excellent effect you've got going there with the diorama - you can almost feel the cold just looking at it!
  22. Made some more progress on this one recently - all the internal parts in the cockpit have been assembled and various other parts constructed. Certainly is a good amount of detail in that cockpit and very time consuming to put together Just when I thought I was going to get away with having nothing that I couldn't easily fix missing from this kit though, I have noticed a missing part! The fuselage cover just behind the canopy (part B5 from the second photo) is missing It's a long shot, but don't suppose anyone out there has a spare part for this? Otherwise, I'm plotting to have a go at scratch-building a bit from the lid of an ice cream box! All parts assembled, next step is to the paintshop for all that internal detail...
  23. Hi all Haven't done a Work In Progress build for a long time, so thought I would bring this one out for one I'm currently reading "Battle of Britain - A day to day Chronicle" by Patrick Bishop, so the model fits in nicely with that This model was bought when I went on holiday this year to the Isle of Wight, where we had a stop off at Hendon and a short detour for me to the Hannants shop down the road. Would have been a wasted opportunity otherwise! The model cost me just £5 as it was from the second-hand section, but it was sold knowing some parts were missing so I will have to work around this as best as I can. Still, couldn't leave it at that price he said foolishly! So here's what I've got to work with: Most parts look to be still on the sprue and all the major parts are there as far as I can tell. I noticed one half of a aileron from one of the wings was missing, but should be able to replicate something to look like this. Now to get started on all that lovely internal cockpit detail! Cheers
  24. Some great photos of the unusual and the very large, thanks for sharing I had to do a second take of the aircraft in the photo third from the bottom as it looked almost like a WW2 Japanese Nakajima Ki 115 Kamikaze aircraft!
  25. Excellent work on the diorama, looks very realistic!
