Sd.Kfz. 7/1 Flak 38

Recommended Posts

This was a kit I finished last year for a GB. I have been learning how to paint figures so I decided to add a base, some extra stowage and a couple of men. The figures were from a Miniart set, which although not well moulded, they have decent enough poses and paint reasonably well. The base is from Reality In Scale and is well made. Very porous so needs a lot of primer. It would have been better if I had followed their instructions and given it a good coating of PVA.

I also got a new camera phone so have been playing around with that. Apologies for some blurring etc.👍

I like it! 👍

This is one kit I'd like to build .... no idea why I'm drawn to it though ... 🤔

The figures look great .... the one at the back looks like he just can't be bothered!

Cheers Keith. It's a very nice kit and got it in a sale, so a bit of a bonus.

The guy at the back is a bit like me, doing nothing while looking like doing something.😄

Very nice indeed, you've made the panzer grey finish interesting and I like the base and your figures too!

Very nice AA half-track, the base and figures really set it off.  I've have the Trumpeter and old Tamiya kits of it

Cheers Bob. I'd like to do one of the old Tamiya, armoured version kits. A bit clunky but a good base for some super detailing.

Well that came out of the blue!

(Which may well something the crew might have said too).

I don't remember this build at all Stef but it certainly looks the part.....

Really nicely done, good job with the panzer grey too.

Nice base, great details and a couple of really well done figures, what's not to like!

Great work Stef, as ever!

Cheers mate. Instead of starting another kit I have been trying out some new things these last few weeks, getting used to painting figures. Rather enjoying it too. 😎

I was just going to ask if you were enjoying it too. Great job on them. What paints do you use for the figures? I liked the dusty effects on the flak gun the first time around and the base really set it off.

And you appear to have learned very well. Those two look very good indeed. Oh, and that germanic clanky thing behind them doesn't look half bad either.:)

Nice work Steff.

Cheers Paul. I used Lifecolor and 3rd Gen sets. Very good to hand paint with. 👍

Cheers John. I'll be wasting my time mentioning the upcoming Tiger GB then?😜

Ive only got a couple of those but they are great. I’ll have to get some more. I think the ak 3rd gen flesh colour in particular looks more lively and vibrant than the Vallejo one I use. 🤔

This is the flesh set. Very nice, vibrant and easy to use. I may look for another set just to mix up the flesh tones but this does the job for now.👍

Great looking build Stef, I really like the way that you have painted the vehicle and the gun tremendous. The base and the figures look really good, all in all a tremendous project, well done...

C'mon, John! Surely at least one Tiger was captured and repainted SCC.15 or OD? 😀

Stef - superb model as per usual. Nicely done figures too.

Hi Stef,

Nice AA, very well accompanied with those figures, which are very well finished.
It reminds me of the old Tamiya one, I still have one half finished in a box, from my other stage.
If it turned out like yours in a hypothetical final, I would be very happy.

Cheers

Francis.👍

Very neat model. The grumpy, shirt-sleeved figures dragging the camouflage netting add a nice bit of life to the diorama.

Cheers Ian, Francis and Donald. 👍

Clearing the netting didn't look like a fun job to me just a necessary chore.

Thanks for the kind words.
