alt-92 Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 C.19 for me. And it's good to see that he's still producing 1/72 multi-engine kits.
cngaero Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 A Varsity would be most welcome in the near future 🤞 5

I think he's slowly winding down, but you could reach out to Air Graphic Models for advice on how they can create a major Valetta conversion. Happy to see the C.19 and T.21 Ansons though! 71chally Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I've no idea what Valoms business plan is, but a Varsity would seem a logical release from them after the Valetta. 2
Mr T Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 The Varsity is a bit of a different beastie from the Viking. It would require a new fuselage, new wings, new engine nacelles and a complete new undercarriage and doors. I understand that Valom is no longer going to produce anymore new 'big' kits. 1
cardiff guy Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I'm looking forward to this kit and a varsity would be nice, but how about an Andover first 👍 3 1
TEXANTOMCAT Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I think this is going to be rather a good seller, I had added it to my Airfix prediction list for several years - not least because there are a surprising (?) number of survivors in the UK... G-AHKX – Avro XIX Anson airworthy with the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden Aerodrome, Bedfordshire.[71] Formerly operated by the collection on behalf of the BAe Systems Heritage Flight,[72] the aircraft was donated to the collection in 2022. WD413 – Anson C.21, now privately owned and registered as G-VROE. It was previously operated by Classic Air Force at Coventry Airport.[73] On display TX213 – Anson C.19 on static display at the North East Land, Sea and Air Museums in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.[77] TX214 – Anson C.19 on static display at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford in Cosford, Shropshire.[78][65] TX266 – Anson C.19 on static display whilst under restoration at Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre.[79] VL348 – Anson C.19 on static display at the Newark Air Museum in Newark, Nottinghamshire.[80] VL349 – Anson C.19 on static display at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum in Flixton, Suffolk.[81] VM360 – Anson C.19 on static display at the National Museum of Flight in East Fortune, East Lothian.[82][83] Stored or under restoration TX235 – Anson C.19 under restoration with the Classic Air Force near Coventry, West Midlands.[85] VM325 – Anson C.19 under restoration with the Carew Control Tower Group in Carew, Pembrokeshire.[86][87] VV901 – Anson T.21 under restoration to static display at the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington, West Yorkshire.[88] Plus another example in the UAE and Netherlands... (from wikipedia) Museum gift shops tend to stock kits of those aircraft they own and volunteers/members of said museums also tend to build them, plus if visitors see one 'for real' they often fancy knocking one together. On top of that they were 'only' retired in 1968 so there is a whole generation of erks who were trained in, or flew in them... then you have UK civilian use, then you have foreign users - Hannants must be licking their lips with all the decal options they could provide! I tip my hat to Valom! TT 2
Trooper N Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 Texantomcat, To add two more example to you list of survivors, both of which are in Ireland: Anson XIX Series I 141,Irish Air Corps which is preseved at Baldonnel Aerodrome in Dublin. Anson T.21 (nose section), RAF is preserved in Shannon Town in Co. Clare 1

With whom did you communicate, and how did they frame their answer? Mikromir has been working on a York for about four years and we've yet to see anything from that project.
Mr T Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 More than four years I reckon. My York was built four years ago after being bought at SMW in 2019, and been waiting for the Mikro Mir for a while then. 1
fatalbert Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Excellent, will deffinatly grab one or two of those.
TheyJammedKenny! Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Folks, latest word on this is mid-May at earliest. Please remain in your seats with your belts securely fastened. No smoking, please...! 2
TheyJammedKenny! Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 These kits are now available, according to Vaclav, the owner. We should see them this week. 1 1
TEXANTOMCAT Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Hooray! Thanks TJK, I'm down for one at least well done Valom- a true gap in the market. I wonder if they might consider a Prentice next? tt 1
Ptmvarsityfan Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Looking forward to these. A Prentice would be great! 1

Dennis_C Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 You made me Google to figure out what Prentice was Surprisingly short living type used for less than 5 years in flying schools despite being built in more than 500 exemplars. I wonder was there anything wrong about the design itself or was it more like Percival Provost and Chipmunk turned out to be so much better? One serving for 15+ years and another one for 40+ years with RAF! 1
Ptmvarsityfan Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Well the Prentice was a bit underpowered and oversized but an important RAF trainer of the late Forties/early Fifties, and also the last aircraft I flew in, at an air show in Coventry! 2
TEXANTOMCAT Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 In essence they were a bit crap- but there is undoubtedly something appealing about them and they are huge! 1
Dennis_C Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I figure out Prentice had three seatings. Two side by side and an extra seating back in the cabin. Was that to train two pilots simultaneously ?
Dennis_C Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Good stuff! Prentice proves weird enough so that I'm interested! Back to Anson - AirGraphic set with test aircraft schemes already waits for the kit! I've got Dove and Harvard to apply those decals so Anson is a very wanted addition! 1
TEXANTOMCAT Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Aggy Paggy is bound to be one scheme people would like I suspect TT
