exdraken
got my 1/48 monster yesterday! @Icelandic Fine Art and yes, it is a monster! but a nicely detailed one! I have not managed to sort it all, but first look is very promising (and that makes me sweat already.... ) there are some pylons included, as well as bomb bay interiors ....hmmmm Not sure yet how to start this guy, I will definitely need some large, flat sanding area to sand down mold related excess material on the joint surfaces on fuselage and outer/ main wing parts.. and I will need large amounts of CA/ Epoxy! any suggestions?! I think I will need to start a build threat soon..... Edited October 15, 2019 by exdraken
Icelandic Fine Art
Yes exdraken, she's a sizeable lady and somebody needs to start a build thread soon, so that we can all see proper modelling at work. I am looking forward to seeing some spectacular builds and there are not that many parts, so in theory should be a lot easier to build, you just need to go down to the builders' merchants and order a pallet load of glue! That's what i use when I have large resin parts that needs gluing. Looking forward to that build thread. RicardoD
Is there some close-up photos of the kit, where one can see details or is there a built one somewhere already?

I could do a WIP on mine, as the fuselage and engines are getting along nicely, but I'm leaving it as it's not representative of the current kit. It should be in RFI before the year is out though Cheers, WV908

I do not see that Alan needs a lot of advertisment anyways!

The lower fin of the missile on the underside, folds up to the left, when looking down in plan view. You will need to carve out a recess in the bomb bay doors, so that the missile can sit in a semi-recessed fashion but still protruding from the underside of the aircraft. I do have some diagrams that show this. Alan

When was Blue Steel retired? I assume I'd need new markings as well for the Lady!

Uncle Uncool
Wow...! My sheila has just wrote me a WhatsApp message telling me that my resin 1/48 Vulcan bits by IFA have arrived today. I've been unable to concentrate on my work ever since then, and still 2 hours and 15 minutes ahead for my shift to end. Frantic! Need to go home right now. Yeh, me does... Icelandic Fine Art
I have been trying to get the Vulcan project up and running again but the Buccaneer took over and trying to repair some of the tools for the Vulcan has proven difficult, due to age and physical factors. LorenSharp
I had discovered the news of the 1/48 Vulcan release, now I see that a 1/48 VIctor has been added to the mix. THere goes my pension cheque for the next 6 months. can't wait for release and price.
Icelandic Fine Art
Update, I have been making great efforts in repairing the Vulcan moulds, which are quite old; on initial inspection, I determined that the moulds had plenty of life in them, so I was at odds to work out why degradation occurred, which would not normally happen, anyway, I ordered a special repair compound from Japan and as all the instructions were in Japanese, I had to work out how to use this compound, through trial and error. It seems that the repair has yielded good results and I have now allowed the moulds to sit and cure for at least a month to maximise its strength, once the moulds have reached their optimum strength, I will then apply heat treatment to seal in the repairs. Icelandic Fine Art
Its official, I have been told by a specialist who works in aerospace and does laser scanning for companies, that a comparison was made with the digital scanned files of an actual Vulcan and the IFA 1/48 Avro Vulcan and they made an alignment comparison with the CAD files and it proved virtually impossible to tell the difference between the IFA Vulcan and real Vulcan, so all those years ago, my draughting skills was up to standard. The truth is, only I knew how close I actually managed to achieve in draughting up the original design and I knew it was pretty close and now all these years later, it turns out that my original design is as close to the latest laser scanning technology, there's a turn up for the books! Watch this space for some more interesting projects, you haven't seen nothing yet! Alan 6
