With the tactical number Attention !!!They are not the same as in Russia.The number is are changing as in the the communist era. :winkgrin: Need to check the serial number on the cover, pylons or ejection seat. Su-25 red 25 was in Russia red 26.

I know. That's why I'm stating where RF-serials remain unconfirmed - which is contrary to some other people, who guess specific RF-serials based on their borts back in Russia.

I was going to look at Su-34's on Russianplanes.net but it seems all photos have been removed/made private/un-searchable! :(

Cheers for the info guys. I didn't realise the mods needed on the SU-34 kit and as mine is currently almost at the priming stage I will finish it as a 'generic SU-34'. It just means that I will have to build another one with mods and resin goodies!!

Turkish F-16 shot down Russian Su-24. Pilot's Su-24 eject over the Syrian territory.

Pro-Turkish guerrillas shot from guns at pilots from the earth,

when they went down on parachutes.

One pilot killed, the destiny of another is still unknown.

... well, while photos of supposedly KIA crewmembers are meanwhile circling the social media, it's unclear if the crew is indeed dead: Turkish officials are claiming they are 'well', and some of insurgent sources are contradicting themselves: some say one of crewmembers was KIA, other came down dead etc. Considering what can be seen on screenshots released by the THK, it seems the Sukhoi was hit by an AIM-120 from approx 2 o'clock: wouldn't surprise me if it proxi-fused, injuring the crew in the process...

So, we'll see.

Except for that Su-24, the Russians lost a Mi-8 CSAR that was searching for the downed crew. This was hit by insurgent small arms fire, forced to land and then blown away by a TOW.

12 members of the crew and troops that were on board were reportedly recovered.

There are reports that another Russian helicopter was damaged too, but limped back to Istamo (Russian helidrome, newly-constructed south of Lattakia).

...that video is some quite comprehensive nonsense.

There were two Su-24s: underway at 6,000m altitude (18,000+ ft) they entered the area within 15km from border to Hatay Province in Turkey. Turkish AF began airing warnings in accordance with their ROEs ('no combat ops within 15km from our border are tollerated') - which were publicly announced to Moscow over one month ago. Russians ignored warnings and Sukhois made their third run - this time in direction of Turkish airspace, which they briefly violated too - one of two F-16s airborne over Hatay fired a single AIM-120. Approx from Russian's 2 o'clock position and a range beyond 5 miles.

One Su-24 was shot down, the other was left to distance.

So, no 'Sidewinders' and surely no 'stabbing attack in the back', i.e. from '6 o'clock'.

Today at 10:24 Moscow time when performing a fighting departure over the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic by the fighter of the Turkish Air Force of F-16 brought down the front Su-24M bomber of the Russian VKS. Allegedly, defeat was inflicted by the rocket of near radius of action with a thermal head of homing. Any attempts from the Turkish plane to communicate or come into visual contact with our crew by means of objective control it isn't recorded. Hit of the rocket in the Su-24M plane happened over the territory of Syria. The plane crash site is in the Syrian territory in four kilometers from border. The crew of the plane catapulted. According to preliminary data, one pilot was lost in air from fire from the earth. According to exact data of objective control, our plane didn't cross border with Turkey. Same air defense is confirmed by data Syrian.

Moreover, according to radar investigation of airfield Hmeymim, is marked out the fact of violation of air space of Syria by the attacking Air Force plane of Turkey.
This fact is regarded as the most rough violation of norms of international law with the most serious consequences and direct violation of the Memorandum of prevention of incidents and the safety of flights in the Syrian Arab Republic concluded with the USA and extending on all countries of the coalition, including Turkey. Probably, therefore Turkey began the emergency consultations with NATO instead of coming quickly into contact with the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. To the Turkish military attache in the Russian Federation the resolute protest is declared to the actions of the Air Force of Turkey which led to loss of our plane.
It should be noted that we from the very beginning of carrying out operation established the direct telephone line between National control center of defense of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Defence of Turkey, but it didn't bring practical benefit because of the Turkish side.
For evacuation of the Russian pilots from a place of a landing search and rescue operation with attraction of two Mi-8 helicopters was performed. During operation one of helicopters as a result of fire from small arms sustained damage and made an emergency landing in the neutral territory. One marines-contract employee was lost.
The staff of search and rescue group and crew of the helicopter were evacuated by the carried-out actions and now are on aviation base Hmeymim. From the territory under control to bands, the helicopter was destroyed by mortar fire.

I want to emphasize that around actions of the Russian aircraft operation of the Syrian government troops on destruction of bands in which, according to our data, more than 1000 fighters — natives from the North Caucasus are concentrated is performed. On the contrary, these areas are known as the territories controlled by the most radical bands.

The first: All actions of shock aircraft will be carried out only under cover of fighter aircrafts.
The second: Measures for strengthening of antiaircraft defense will be taken. For this purpose the cruiser "Moscow" equipped with the Fort air defense system similar to S-300 will occupy the area in coastal part of Latakia. We warn that all purposes constituting for us potential danger will be destroyed.
The third: Contacts with Turkey on the military line will be stopped.

If I attempt to answer your question, any of Russian insinuations in that statement, or try explaining the difference between the Daesh (aka IS/ISIS/ISIL/IGIL) and Syrian civilians, mods are going to delete my post.

So, sufficient to say that Turks clearly and explicitly warned Russians, and Russians ignored not only the 10 radio warnings yesterday, but about another dozen of diplomatic warnings from October.

Sh!t happens, they say.

BTW, here ANNA video report showing Mi-8s and Mi-24s trying to find the crew, then one Mi-8 making a forced landing - and finally (after the sequence where it was hit by a TOW) - burning out (the sequence with 'bearded thugs firing into the air' is from a several years old video, not from yesterday):

Mmm,..... somebody somewhere seems to be telling porkies or at least bending the truth to serve their own jingoistic means? Hopefully the truth will come out and the diplomats can sort it all out before things get silly and countries start to `willy wave' instead.

I hope that at least one of the Russian fast jet crew are safe and as the Turkish missile was fired from the 2 o`clock position it is quite likely that the injured/killed airman could have been hit by shrapnel from this and not ground fire. Assessment of his wounds or an autopsy if he has died should either reveal bullet wounds or shrapnel so we shouldn`t jump to conclusions about how these wounds occurred,.......all parties concerned need to step back,...take a breath, be professional and then put their heads together to find out the truth before reacting,.....lets hope that they do,..... please!.

As for the helicopter shoot down,......well if I had just been bombed by a jet wearing a red star and then a helicopter bearing the same markings appeared before me,......then I would shoot at it too. I`m sorry for any loss of life on board but I`m just saying that if somebody is provoked then don`t be surprised if they retaliate,.........but this does not cover shooting at airmen under a parachute,.....if this did actually occur then this was an atrocity which needs to be punished.

Weather or not the SU 24 was infringing Turkish airspace is a matter of argument that I wont get into.

What I can't understand about this is that the Turks had several times issued warnings that any aircraft infringing their airspace would be attacked, and had reinforced this in the past by downing Syrian aircraft that had "crossed the line."

If I was engaged in military operations in the general area, and knowing the Turks would without doubt shoot at the slightest reason, a sensible decision to me would be to ensure that my aircraft were kept well away from any contentious area to prevent any "incidents" such as this occurring in the first place. It makes me wonder if the Russian leadership are just being badly advised on this, or are they being deliberately provocative? if so to what end? The mind boggles!

Fighting tasks were carried out and came back along the return route on air base. To me in general as to the navigator each height is known there. I can be guided even without devices", – he told.

According to him, no preventions from Turkey existed. "No preventions existed. On a radio exchange, visually. There was no contact at all. Therefore we came on a battle course in the regular mode", – he told.

"It is necessary to understand, what speed at a bomber, and what – at the F16 fighter. If we were wanted to be warned, could be proved to be, having got up on a parallel course. And so was nothing. And the rocket came to a tail of our plane suddenly. We even visually didn't observe it to manage to make antimissile maneuver", – he added.

He also told that wants to remain to serve as a part of aviagroup of Russia in Syria. "Of course, I look forward when write out at once to return to a system. I will ask command that I was left on this air base – I am obliged to return "debt" for the commander", – the navigator of Su-24 told.

The pilot also told about the health. "In general it is now normal, our military physicians work wonders", – he told.

On Tuesday Russian Su-24 was hit by the Air Force F-16 fighters of Turkey in Syria on border with Turkey. The crew managed to catapult, however the pilot who was going down on a parachute was shot in air by fighters from small arms.
The navigator was rescued during search operation by the Russian and Syrian special troops, now it is on base. During operation VKS of Russia lost the helicopter – the car was fired from small arms, one serviceman was lost. Pilots made an emergency landing, the crew was evacuated. Fighters shot the left helicopter anti-tank missiles.

Ankara declared that Su-24 was hit allegedly after violation of air space of the country by him. Adhere to this position and in NATO.

Turks "stopped" some days the Russian planes. At take-off of our planes Turks right there lifted the, and when approaching our Fighter-Bomber to the area of military operations constantly was airborne from four to six Turkish F-16. Yesterday pair of Turkish fighters began interception of the Russian strike fighter even before approach it to border of Turkey and was in a position for attack actually at the time of its approach to the purpose when IB were carried out by a bend along border with Turkey, coming on the purpose. That is, actually I was in an ambush in readiness for interception. At this moment the Russian strike fighter was carried out by a bend along border of Syria and Turkey, being in an air prostrastvo of Syria in three kilometers from border. And from distance of four kilometers, under a foreshortening in three quarters our Su-24 was hit in a back hemisphere by the rocket from IR " Sidewinder", thus missile launch was carried out actually over border of Turkey and Syria then the Turkish F-16 intruded in air space of Syria a minimum on four kilometers. The rocket got to the engine, both pilots catapulted. The commander of crew was shot by Islamists in air and landed the already dead. His body was revealed and captured by fighters.
The pilot-navigator escaped and could land successfully. The landing occurred on a forest slope of the mountain. It gave it small odds and it could disappear from a landing place before approach of group of taking of Islamists. During the whole day groups of fighters combed the area in search of the Russian pilot, but couldn't find it. The pilot constantly moved and masked. The pilot contacted nightfall on emergency radio station and let know that is live and designated a place of the stay. It is interesting that almost right there to the area where the pilot disappeared, from the next settlement the column of fighters went and the active radio exchange that testifies that the Turkish means of interception right there transferred information on location of the pilot to fighters began.
With nightfall to the area some our groups of special troops of Recce Rescue Services, and also Syrian special troops operating in this area moved forward. About twenty three hours of hours the pilot was met by the Syrian special troops which were in the back of fighters and, to two o'clock in the morning was brought to the territory controllable by the Syrian army, and at three o'clock in the morning is brought to base Hmeymy.
