  1. Looks like one of my nephews πŸ˜† Cheers, Moggy
  2. ....a seagull. It dive-bombed a living room window. Do they still use guano to make powder? If that is so then I'm going to be rich! Cheers, Moggy (guano cleaner society aspirant)
  3. I have joined but I don't see my name on the list Do I become number 30 then? BTW does Israel, Egypt and Syria count? Thye have a Mediterranean coast... Cheers, Moggy (builder of Italian, Spanish Civil War and French aircraft)
  4. Regarding Tamiya, Gunze and thinner: I've used isopropyl alcohol 90% bought in bulk for the last 33 years with great success 😁 It has a lot lower price per ml and just as effective. BTW why retarder? I tried it and it just complicated matters to no discernible end πŸ˜‰ Cheers, Moggy
  5. Time for my Starfleet build at last? 😎 A Reliant in 1/537 - lighted... all materials already in the stash 😜 Let's model where no modellers have modeled before I'm in! Cheers, Moggy (Star Trek nut)
  6. I can't stop thinking that it looks like a toilet seat with a driving wheel 🀣 Cheers, Moggy (Lavatorial Humor Ltd)
  7. I agree with you about the "noise" - but at the same time it is part and parcel of a forum. I wouldn't want it taken away; it has entertainment value πŸ˜† and more often than not somebody chips in with more info on the subject at hand πŸ˜‰ When I really like a build I save it as a PDF then edit the entertainment out 😎 A quality modelling magazine (often) has better structure, possibly useful source material, and a short, funny commentary column (Remember Tailpiece? Rereading it still makes me smile) Good building articles to a consistent high standard - possibly four or five complete with good WIP pictures. Articles with (pretty?) pictures of the finished model are generally speaking uninteresting . ten such articles are not better. So - given all of the above and including good source material a scale modelling mag should still be attractive 😁 About source material - while it is possible to find good material on the Internet a good article with good scale drawings and well researched colour profiles is still an structured source. Most modellers do not have a compulsion to document every nook and cranny to the last rivet before starting a build like some of us do. One such source article may give enough info and inspiration for that elusive next project 😜 Cheers, Moggy (the librarian's cat)
  8. @Procopius Do tell - Reskit has returned from suspended animation? How? πŸ€” Could you explain the "maneouvres" part of your statement? πŸ˜‡ It sounds really interesting. Cheers, Moggy
  9. There's a big difference between slant and desinformation. A view / opinion is not reporting - it's just that: opinion. Certain sources have consistently lied just about everything they ever "reported"; source checking has always been important - today (in the age of false news) is imperative. The "news" you get from social media are never to be trusted - at least before you can trace the source to a trustworthy one. "My friend Joe from Facebook" is not a trustworthy source - unless he can back up his allegations with a reliable source you can fact-check. Fact-checking and transparency in journalism are paramount. People that claim to have a "secret source" on the internet are at best conspiration theorists, at worst willing distributors of desinformation. Come to think of it - it is difficult to separate the categories above πŸ˜† Cheers, Moggy (uni studies: political sciences, international relations, information techniques, history)
  10. The Internet is awash with Putin's desinformation. Be careful of what you read - it might not be factual. Cheers, Moggy
  11. Hans your model was very good There are always people that get a kick out of denigrating others' work 😝. This particular one got banned - he's not going to annoy us any more. That should not deter you from showing us others your fine work So, when you feel like it again we all look forward to admiring your models πŸ˜‰ Moggy, (who feels that people that kill the joy of our hobby should be lapidated with coproliths)
  12. I love it! It made me smile; doesn't happen often when admiring models Cheers, Moggy (funny models light my day)
  13. Brilliant modelling - really does justice to the original Cheers, Moggy
  14. Father Christmas is called Jultomten . The Pucky part sounds like somebody was pulling your leg 🀣 Cheers, Moggy (accruing Swedishness since 1984)
  15. Beautiful model Bjârn! The Vampire is a unique aircraft - and anything in Flygvapnet's colours is automatically high art 😜 Cheers, Moggy
  16. Evil people starts wars - good people die in them. I have always thought that the Felixstowes' boxart would look great as oil paintings. An artist may die; but his work can live forever. Moggy
  17. OK - I shall have to find an aircraft kit I'm not happy with 😜 Cheers, Moggy
  18. I might - although I've never done a wreck. I keep my models in a "slightly used" condition. Subtle patina is my usual finish.. Cheers, Moggy
  19. I used to work as an IT consultant. We had an (informal) employee category: "closet technician" Translation: brilliant at his/her job - but every time he/she opens his/her mouth disaster ensues. 😎 So that's where the "closet" sobriquet comes from: to be kept away from customers at all costs - preferably in a big closet and fed through a hatch. πŸ˜† Cheers, Moggy (former Raider of the Lost Server Room)
  20. Two JAS 39 Gripens - rather loud unusually low Cheers, Moggy
  21. Sounds like a tantrum 😝 Some people think that health regulations are a commie plot to destroy business Seriously - I've used Gunze and Tamiya acrylics since the end of the '80. They are much easier to work with touch-dry a lot faster, much less toxic, use ethyl alcohol as a solvent. The only colours not replaceable as acrylics are metalics Cheers, Moggy
