  1. Can you elaborate? I was thinking that the air keeps circulating through the filter eventually filtering everything out
  2. Hi, I have been using a Benchvent recirculating booth for a few times now and found it still leaves a lot of fumes in the room even the first time I used it. I only spraypainted a small model for maybe 30 minutes so nothing excessive and left it running for 30 minutes after I was done. Is this normal or would this indicate a problem with the booth? I used Tamiya acrylic paint and thinner
  3. Thanks everyone, Today I practiced again on the plastic placemat again with ~65% levelling thinner and it went pretty well, I used the screw on the back to prevent me from pulling the trigger too far back and I was able to layer 3 coats pretty nicely
  4. Thank you for your reply, tightening the nozzle seems to have improved things, thanks for the tip! In the last practice session I was able to play around some more: - I also stirred in the cup using a toothpick instead of using blowback which might have also helped - I was now able to paint using 1:1 ratio of paint and levelling thinner - At 15 psi I was able to paint without sputtering from ~5cm away - At 20 psi I was able to paint from ~10cm away but that seemed to cause more tip dry - I'm not sure what to aim for when painting a layer, it seems the paint stays wet more than the recommended few seconds, possibly because I am using levelling thinner? - Also in some cases the spray pattern looks rather coarse but I am not sure if that is maybe normal, or is it too dry? - Added some pictures below of the practice on paper ( I also practiced on a plastic placemat but I already cleaned it before I thought of taking a picture, sorry ) - Bottom right is where things looked coarse on https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-S7chiSpvNOc7HODXLEAgdtDs__OjxNb/preview - This one seems sort of okay ( single layer ) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-NKELXpjCNHJKFrgLGAWAt1lIO8-qeV5/preview
  5. Hello, I'm trying to get the basic of airbrushing down but running into some problems, I'm not sure if the problem is with the airbrush or me doing something wrong: - I'm practising using Tamiya X-18 and Mr Hobby levelling thinner - I'm using a cheapo airbrush, from what I gather although not perfect it should be well possible to do some decent airbrushing with those - I have to use a lot of the levelling thinner to get ( almost ) no sputtering, 2 parts thinner to 1 part paint - After laying down a layer and cleaning the airbrush before the next it takes time before I get a steady stream out of the airbrush - I tried cleaning the nozzle but not much seems to come out, I didn't submerge it though because I can't really get the rubber ring off of it I wouldn't mind investing in a better airbrush if that would definitely solve these issues, some input would be much appreciated, Best, Richard
