  1. Nothing wrong with a grey bird and beast mode will make it even more impressive. Do you intend to put some dindeminders on the wingtips as well, or will it be AMRAAMS only?
  2. That is the spirit of a STGB, learning something new with each build. I did not know about the heat blankes and bard stacks either. Thank you for sharing with us this piece of insight.
  3. Great choice. Shows that grey aircraft can be special very as well! Will you also add the red missiles (smokewinders?) I haven't ssen those often.
  4. You are building quite a suspense here. Now I am really curious what you have in store for us. Fingers crossed and watching this space.
  5. Happy 2022! I love the possibility of having the wings in parked position, Something which isn't an option on many 1:72 kits! I bet they'll look good side by side!
  6. Nice! Which scheme will it be? Australian, Marines, Finnish, Canadian? Tell us all about it. edit: Reading the Title sometimes helps Still which scheme? the Australians have shown some nice color schemes through the years.
  7. Thumbs up for this one. While an older issue, the kit is still a great build. I'd suggest putting some Walleyes on it which is a rather unusual but has been actually documented as beinig successfully used during Desert Storm.
  8. Funny thing is, I dd it the other way around: Bougth the Golden Dragons boxing from my local hobby shop, then went on to buy the VMFA-212 boxing on-line. I am keen to know which of the three Golden Dragons schemes provided are you going for?
  9. Since what-if's as welcome to this GB, I don't see any season not to go fot the VF-12 scheme. I say get them tiger!
  10. looking forward to your Build Dennis, And kudos for the tidy workspace, If only mine was as well kept!
  11. Love the choice Lex, and I love to see a pristine Angel, just like the one on the kit box.
  12. Wow, a really cool scheme. with the warthog on the nose it begs for a nice A2G loadout as well (some big Paveways mabye?). I am sure you will get a lot of support and hints from the regulars (but you know that already- right?)
  13. As a OTS builder myself, I look fondly to any build in 1:72. As long as you don't go for one of the fancy agressor/digital camo schemes, you'll have ample time to decide on the livery. Or maybe you will showcase a fancy loadout instead? Good luck!
  14. Like the choice Adam, with a stash this lrge I am sue you can comfortably build a few special schemes AND grey workhorses to give them a nice backdrop
  15. Trickyrich sets a high bar again. An Aussie Growler in dress uniform. I am sure this will be an eyesight to behold, and I am looking forward to the build.
  16. Ah, a Swiss one, And a tiger as well! this will be quite a feat.
  17. Great scheme and it will be a good two-seater comanion for your already build single seater. Can't wait to asee them side by side!
  18. This will be a geart model, I admire everyone who goes the extra mile of dropping everything hydraulic when it is sensible. Thumbs up!
  19. Great, my local model shop has a 1:144 Hornet on display and it looks teriffic, I am sure so will your build!
  20. Looking forward to your build Pappy!
  21. Rules: Rule #1: Have fun! Rule #2: No buying and selling within the STGB forum Rule #3: The Build subject has to be reconisable as a F/A-18 A/B/C/D/E/F/G/..., or their prototpes (like the YF-17) Clarifications: - 25% rule: wavied. You can join with an already started build. I don#t mind if you still have to cut the sprues, or are already applying the decals, Every F/A-18 has the right to be build. - Whart-if's: Welcome as long as it is something possible/probable. This basically means, that as long as you don't interfere with the stucture of the plane too much by i.e. adding swing wings or a third engine you should be fine. Please label any what-if as such. - What-if Camo is OK (i.e. a nice swedish splinte camo) - What-if Operators are OK (i.e. german insigina) - What if Ordnance is OK (i.e. Iisraeli Python missiles) Requests: - Please provide one picture of a top down view of your finished build Pointing to the top of the image, as I intend to make a big picture showcasing all the builds at the end of the STGB. Should you have any other questions, feel free to contact me. Happy building!
  22. I actually was thinking along those lines as well, though in order to bring a more positive spin, I'd omit the second part Another idea is the "swiss army knife aircraft" which weaves neatly one of the users in as well.
  23. Hello everyone, With the GB kicking off in roughly ten days (depending on location and time of reading this message) it is time to prepare your workbench and get your tools and kit ready. The only thing missing is a cool F/A-18 quote for the GB thread. If someone has an idea I'd gladly appropriate it for the GB 😉
