Yep, if it goes through, I plan on picking up a Zumwalt DDG

I currently have a vote in each of them, and hope they will tie. Should it look like one of them will be down by a single vote at the end, I plan on simply removing my vote on the other one. š

Big update Anchor chains on the bow were "painted" black using a colored pencil. As the chains are molded into the deck, its make its quite difficult to paint without also painting the steel deck underneath. Going with a colored pencil allowed me to give it some color without risking paint getting on the deck At the stern, the wooden slates next to the trolley lines were hand painted. Fujimi provided decals for this, but I chose not to use them as I didn't like their color and they were too long. Looks great from a distance. No distance can make the crane look good, but it is what it is. The "island of death" has been glued down, with all the anti-aircraft guns in place. The funnel required some careful painting, but looked good once finished. And an overall view of the build, which is nearing completion. Just need to finish a floatplane and install it and the catapults. The bow and stern flag poles both snapped when attempting removal from the old plastic sprues, so they wont be included. Contemplating some light weathering and rigging. I've never really done the later, would require some research to figure out. We'll see.

New Airfix mystery kit? - Its a 1/48 Westland Lysander
JTninja replied to GMK's topic in The Rumourmonger
Would love some 1/350 capital ships, but I dont think Airfix is interested in that area. 1/72 Mosquito FB Mk.VI, just in time for next years STGB š -
Going along those lines, Im curious if airworthy museum examples are eligible for this build. For example, Commemorative Air Force currently operates 6 airworthy B-25s flying across the USA in airshows. Since they're being operated post-WWII, would building one of those examples be allowed? š¤

Agreed on 1 week of voting. A few days of people getting online to place votes, and a few days chaos. Cut out of the blandness in the middle š„

FlugzeugtrƤger A - German Aircraft Carrier Graf Zeppelin
JTninja replied to JTninja's topic in Project Cancelled GB
Well, she's finished, at least for now. Decals took longer than expected, so I only got to finish a few of them in time. The ship was finished this morning, after deciding to leave of a few photoetch parts that I felt would have looked odd. I might go back and add them in the future, as well as some weathering and more aircraft. Photos posted in the gallery, but heres a few for this thread. Thanks everyone for following along, it was a good build!- 54 replies

DKM Graf Zeppelin Aircraft Carrier Kit - Trumpeter 1/700 Graf Zeppelin Like most major countries on the eve of WWII, Germany attempt to produce a homebuilt aircraft carrier. As their first carrier, they used lessons learned from other nations to incorperate into their design, but once the war began, other priorities delayed the finishing of this ship. Despite several attempts to finish her, the failure of the Navy doomed her to port, and the ship was canceled. Here is my take on her completion, with a custom camo based on other DKM ships. FlugzeugtrƤger A - German Aircraft Carrier Graf Zeppelin

The weekend is here, and with it, just 1.5 days left in the group build. Something I put off for a bit was the end supports for the catapult. The parts are photoetch, and the first part was a bit complex, requiring 12 bends. Once complete and painted, its installed on the hangar deck. The platforms and their rails are then bent before being glued on top of the supports. Anyways, the rest of the ship has had some small bits added all around, with more still being worked on. The white circle decals were added, sadly a bit too transparent. Too late to fix now. Another thing Ive put off, more aircraft. For some mad reason, I've decided last minute to make one of the Ju-87Cs with its wings folded. You know, because I dont have enough to do In the next 24 hours, we'll try to get the rest of the anti aircraft guns in place, the final island nest place, and the aircraft painted. After that, just a go over for minor touchups, aircraft decals, and a protective coat. Might have a little bit of time for some light weathering, we'll see.- 54 replies

White - Tamiya White Primer, light brushed overcoat of Hataka A049 Insignia White Grey - Hataka A048 Light Gull Grey (ANA 620) Black - Mission Models MMP-040 Tire Black 1 Paints were for a few USN projects but looked to be decently close to the colors used on some of the DKM camos, like Hipper and Eugen. Only the black was brushable, the others needed the airbrush to lay down.- 54 replies
