  1. 54 had gone to the later spec by 81. Certainly when I got to Colt in 85 they were all like that ( blue nose door, yellow code and black white on fin ) 1980 - still had numbers on door https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=2279812862447979&set=pcb.2178977682616370 Silver intake = errosion ! Normally in camo may be worth trawling the Colt Facebook group photos https://www.facebook.com/groups/1011450909369059/media
  2. Blow out cap ? https://en.missilery.info/files/m/sea_skua/bild_29.jpg
  3. Not got that far yet - been busy elsewhere
  4. I've been progressing my one of these. Few points of note so far: Rear floats / baggage bay scribing incorrect - too long Fin is symetrical - in reality it is aerofoil Tailplanes are same angle - pt trailing edge should be higher than stbd
  5. 1:1 scale needed nose weights 😉 ( post FIN1064 anyway )
  6. Good job and one of the best I've seen ( just paint the jettison pipe black - they were rubber 😉 )
  7. Moons ago the RAF deployed me to Turkey for 4 months. I had the same thought - couldn't really 'do' plastics as all my kit would be dangerous air cargo. So I took a wooden boat kit 🙂 I finished 'Le Hussard' and started HMS Unicorn ( got the hull done before I came home and finished it some years later )
  8. We used to cycle them through the bay for checks. Also had them stashed at various deployed locations. They were the old 'fixed fin' types that were phased out of normal use
  9. Not impressed ! It's gonna cost me a fortune 😂
  10. I got to Abingdon 88. The GR1A upgrades were all just about finished by then. XZ381 was the last, and that was a one off attrition replacement
  11. They were indeed being done at Abingdon. When I got there in 88 most had been done, but we were doing the last few
  12. Ahhhh - memories of using my Zwick to fill them
  13. Wife says I'm reverting to my Essex boy roots by putting FY11 ANT on my car ( FYI IAN T )
  14. Darn - having lost access to photobucket all my work on the one I did has gone ( goes to look for backup CD )
