Hi my friends. Operation I-Go sakusen which took place in April 43 in the Southern Solomons islands was certainly Adm Yamamoto last gamble to gain air superiority in this theater of operations. Rabaul land based IJN planes were involved as were the carrier groups from IJN Hyio and Junyo. Operating from the ground those carrier planes received a random green camouflage of many forms and effects. Some were sprayed, some were hand painted or using rags and brooms. I have represented one of this plane coded 2-2-103 from the carrier Hiyo when operating from Buin in Bougainville. The previous A , in the tail code, has disappeared, the first 2 means the second carrier, the second 2 means the second carrier division.

Eduard model is very nice and offers a great rendition of the famous plane. Everything is in the box so no after market here, only home made masks for the markings. The weathering is kept to a minimum, life on a carrier is pretty clean. Some parts of the build are tricky, undercarriage to name it and remains very fragile. For the cockpit you'd better follow the instructions or you'll have trouble! Guess how I know. Now to the pics, bye for now.

Excellent ! It turns out fantastic! I don’t understand why the undercarriage is always a problem at these brilliant eduard models. Spitfire, P-51 , the same problems. Too complicated, too weak….

Cheers

Andy I agree with you. The U/C of this model is too complicated with some photo etch to add to the legs and a perilous wheel attachement as well. jewel on the crown, the point where you fix the leg is "floating". I already hear swears....
